What? R34 GTR builds have always been relatively expensive. Even in Japan years ago I never, ever saw one that wasn't prohibitively expensive. Their value has shot up recently, but an R34 GTR covered in original Nismo parts and an HKS stroker motor has never been a genuine possibility for many enthusiasts. American importers can't even touch R34's until 2024 so the grey market import law doesn't apply.

@@fawncashew I should've been more clear in my comment. I'm not referring to the base price of the car. I'm talking about the build of said car. You stated "a few years ago something like this was a genuine possibility for many car enthusiasts". This video is about the *build* of this car, and not the purchase of the base vehicle. My point was that all the builds I saw in Japan were very steep regardless of the shop. That's why I mentioned the prolific use of new Nismo and HKS parts used in this particular build. Brand new Nismo parts and full stroker engine builds are and have always been quite expensive for this platform.

@@leofong8344 generally speaking, you cannot register an imported car in the US until it is 25 years old. It was a law introduced to protect their domestic car makers from people turning to more efficient and more reliable foreign alternatives, but has also served to stop the US sucking up every good car not sold there from other countries!
