Roadbuilding was one of my favorite parts of M&T and I love how expensive they are. The expense moves them from just one of the constructions to something you have to tie in your gameplay, and it will probably feel very rewarding once you connect your whole country with roads

I'd like to know how Prosperity is affected by the intensity at which your lower classes are exploited. Having perpetually starving peasants and loaded lords should probably be different from having plump peasants and scruffy lords. No idea what the history books says, though.

do road automativcally build bridges at rivers or do you get wealth creating ferries.
@lowe_sa2976Ай бұрын
Why simply not tax the roads? Also this will lead to corruption and make it even funnier to deal with because you'd have to create special regiments to guard the roads but they will be easily corrupted too so you'll implement spies from other places but because you are never sure in anyone you start to murder everyone and end up in a dictatorship, whole country is in bloodbath, after that comes good sir knight to help you out but he's a traitor too but you know it because you always knew it because it was you who bribed him to betray you so you would use that situation and get an even tighter grip on pawahh, everyone is corrupt, they fear you and finally there's no corruption instead they now unmotivated so you can't return back in time and decide to cleanse the land by fire by creating monastic orders and tyranny can continue with every other state bordering you think that you have gone mad and must be terminated but lil did they know! You bribed their armies and now their allegiance to the republic restored into the first galactic empire! Hail the dark side......

@ResandOuiesАй бұрын
That can't be right, right? If 17% dev gives you -17% distance Cost to Cap, wouldn't 100% dev give you -100% cost. Making the whole control mechanic irrelevant
@SireBabАй бұрын
It does read like that. While I could understand some abstraction saying it's just self sufficient that's covered by other mechanics like those control buildings. I hope this is capped so it's like - 50% at 100.

"Building ROADS in EU5 is going to be EXPENSIVE but WORTH IT!" - - - Okay but where do we see how worth it they are? All I saw was a +25% movement speed (for the gravel road) and some mentioning about it effecting trade/travel of goods. Nowhere was anything really put into perspective or made clear about just how amazing or all caps WORTH IT building roads would be.
@Lord_LambertАй бұрын
They reduce the proximity cost by 50%, and control is going to be one of the primary limits on expansion, so getting more control is absolutely worth it.

i think china starting high is a bad thing if you stop to think about it, they already reached most of their potential while Europe has lots of room to grow (pretty sure johan says at the start that it goes from -100 to 100) and the Red Turban rebelion might hamper their progress a bit.
@weabootrash5891Ай бұрын
Just like in reality China is so rich that the only place that they can go it down, and I can definitely see that as being an issue with the Chinese tags. Things can ONLY get worse, and when they do it'll almost certainly make the empire fall apart.
