Dewayne, thank you! I’ve learned so much more about fencing and even more about life watching an hour of your videos. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing and “God bless you and your family!” 😊

There is no better trait for a man or woman than for it to be said that they left their home, land, equipment and family in better shape than he found it. That makes this world a better place to live. It’s rewarding to do a job & know you didn’t take the short cut and did it right. What you leave behind says a lot about who you are.

I’m 66 and as I listen to you explain kind of simple logical things like how you have to learn basic skills, I think, “well, obviously” But as I look at some of our young people I understand.. it’s not obvious. I had to bully my sons to learn skills but I’m sure glad I did
@laurenw11682 жыл бұрын
Bummer that you had to bully your sons for that. Please don't think that's how all younger people are because a generational divide like that can be hard on peoples' relationship with another generation. Some of us have good work ethic and work hard daily to learn new skills and refine our current skills. I appreciate people in every generation who are willing to share skills for things that just didn't run in my family, but that I do now, like putting up good fences.

liquid creosote Is to seal the ends of cut on the posts. You cut the ends straight so water can sit on the tops. In all the older fences that you have seen they rot from the top (same as telephone/power poles) sealing the cut ends can keep them in better shape longer. And putting a slight slope on the tops will allow the water not tp pool on the top as much. That is a task after the fence is built. You want a 100-year fence.

Dwayne,, Thats exactly how i grew up building Brace post for fencing. Though, for many year, used small Cross cut limb saw for notching out . Expect you just got some of the bad weather , I was receiving yesterday. Hope it didn't hinder things too bad.

It might sound odd, but I was watching one of your other videos where you were smoking a cigar, and I think an idea for a video could be you just smoking a whole cigar and giving your thoughts and philosophy on things. Edit: It would be a long video and that would be the point. I'm a young guy and hearing your thoughts and philosophy is quite valuable to me because I didn't grow up in the ranching, cowboy life. And if it's valuable to me then it's probably gonna be valuable to other young ladies and fellas. Just a thought. I hope you and yours have a blessed day.

Nice work. Is there more videos for this project? When you drill and lag them together you've probably got cordless tools. Hopefully I find the next video, part 5 soon.

Ive seen where they put a 3/8 or 1/2 inch rebar in place of the moly bolt. The cross wires hold it together and rebar, cheaper than moly bolts, hold it from sliding out of the notches.. Regardless, great job building the fence and you're right. If it's done correctly, it will last a lot longer than something throw up quickly with the attitude that I'll build something better when I have time. We all know that never happens

Sometimes it pays to know how to properly dig a hole by hand too. We have a place that wou.d take a heavy duty auger to get through (caliche - very hard, compacted soil; rental is about 3 hours away, so that doesn't help). A person with a good digger bar, that knows how to make it work most efficiently, can break through & get a hole dug. Me spouse & I dug over 30 holes, two foot deep by 16-18 inches wide, using a digger bar. Your fence is going to nice and sturdy!

I'm a 73 year old who spent 24 years in residential construction, mostly remodels and second story additions. Through the years as a carpenter/laborer, foreman, superintendent and general contractor I always had one question for my employees/sub-contractors, "Why is there never enough time to do it right the first time, but always enough time to do it over later?" If you're behind schedule are you willing to take on volunteers? I'm in Los Angeles, but my cousin and her husband recently retired to Minor Hill, TN from San Diego. They are close and I'd be willing to broach the subject with them.

Repent and trust in Jesus. He's the only way. We deserve Hell because we've sinned. Lied, lusted stolen, etc. But God sent his son to die on the cross and rise out of the grave. We can receive forgiveness from Jesus. Repent and put your trust in him. John 3:16 Romans 3:23😊❤😊❤
