Almost same here, slight bit later as I bugged my Dad to build my first kit and chose the T-500 brown color boxing when I saw it at Sears. We finished it in Testors dk. blue - long gone.

I.have an original.california version peterbilt, i made my Duel truck with it!!!

I just started building this kit and one thing that really took me by surprise with it. No steer axle brakes. I’m not sure if thats a real life thing but I’ve not seen or driven a real truck with no front brakes and doubt one exists.

That’s how the real trucks were, back in the 70’s.

Only tandem tractors were able to have brake less front axles, 2 axle tractors had to have front brakes

I saved my fifty cents allowance for weeks, until I saved the $5.00 plus shipping in 1969. Mailed the money to my cousin in Edina, MN who picked it up at the hobby shop and mailed it to me. But I recall the 40' Fruehauf van trailer kit I bought later had the coupon for the bunk kit. Cost a dollar

I have a transtar cabover . It was built truck but the window is yellow. I swore up and down it was painted like that.so I soaked it and soaked it and it never changed . I assume it was molded in that color.

Sometimes the clear plastic will yellow over time. I’m not sure of any way to fix it?

Those wheels and tires are too small on a lot of the amt kits they need to be the size to simulate 10 . 22 inch tires and wheels I might take ones from the Freightliner kit and try them
