Oh nice! That stinks you can't find anywhere. It is a complete game changer man. But I hear that a lot, it is expensive for them to make. To clean all the dust out of that small stone is not easy, so they stop making it when they don't sell a lot. That's crazy to me. They could make a large batch and let it sit until it's gone but at least they would have it... Do you have a shop where you could have some delivered in bulk from further away? You would need a loader at your shop too so maybe that is not possible.... 🤷‍♂️✌

That (Geo-Grid) locks the pillars into the walls so they don't separate. We mainly use it for retaining walls. It goes in between the blocks and locks into the backfill stone behind the wall to help prevent the wall from leaning forward. ✌

Love this channel! Just found you today. Question: I’m planning to build a sitting wall border with pillars around a rectangular garden space. It will have an entrance on each side, and so will essentially be 4 sets of the wall/pillar combo you guys built here. My plan was to build the wall and pillars out of basic cored concrete block just glued together (no mortar) and eventually cover them in brick veneer with caps. Is that something that would work with your system of the compacted layer of clean 3/4 crushed stone and then the 1/4” or 3/8” clean crushed stone to bed the first course of blocks in? Originally, I was going to set them on the usual compacted paver base, but I’m rethinking that after watching your videos.

I typically fade the blocks to the side of the ones on the geo grid with glue. You put some glue on one side and not much on the other. That fades the transition in nicely. Good question though brother! ✌

All my mini creta retaining block was different heights up to 3/32nds difference from one to the other. Absolute pain in the butt. I ended up sorting them into separate piles of similar heights which helped a lot but ridiculous in my opinion. Fortunately I only had about 16ft of sitting wall to build so I was able to get it done before the rapture. Lol.

When building a sitting wall. How deep do you go with your 3/4 clean and how many lifts do you do?

The majority of applications will only need about 6" of 3/4 clean compacted in 2 lifts to be safe.

@@j-hog1235 I would say you only need that much stone if you have very bad / unstable sub soil. Other than that, it's overkill. With that in mind, I still bury my 1st block 2-3 inches for sitting walls so you would need 8-10 inches of dirt excavated to account for that and 6" of stone.

No not really... Some jobs we can do depending on the weather and ground temperatures, but pretty much no. Once the ground freezes you can't do this work and confidently trust it will settle right... ✌

I have some projects where I’m at 30 a square too. But this job was lower because of how easy it was to access. Being right off the side of the road saved a lot of time and work. I don’t charge per sq ft. I charge based of each line item. Easier jobs cost less than hard jobs per sq ft. This job would have been closer to 20,000 if it was deep in someone’s backyard or a hard to access area. ✌🏻

It’s hard to tell on camera, but if you don’t chisel the things I did you would notice them. I chiseled pieces that stick out further than the rest of the blocks. I should have took a video of what I mean but I didn’t… ✌🏻
