So here's a couple ideas: 1) Get more clamps into your life. 2) Remove that top board from that saw horse. 3) Put on a wider board instead, say six inches. That way you get a rim, a two inch overhang each side where you can fix clamps. Then you can clamp things to your saw horse and life gets easier.

Thanks for video, I heard people use LVL and use 1/2 " plywood to cover around LVL to make a stair string. you think its going to be ok to use these?

Nice work! What kind of router bit do you use for the channels, is the bearing at the side closest to the router?

great video. can you tell me the rise and run of this design? I'm looking to build a steep shop stair for my shop. Hope all is well on the farm ....

Ken Bell that is 18 and 18 cm. So it is a 45 * stair.

I'm planning on making very similar stairs. How long were these treads? do you think I could make them 45" long and still have no flex? Great work !

I think with a 45” long treads you’ll be fine going with 1 1/2”thick treads. Minimum. Not sure in what part of the world you’re at. But out here in the US you can’t have an opening no more than 4” in between treads also your rise or the height doesn’t have to be taller than 7 3/4 x 10” run = 7 3/4x 11 1/4 finished run including the 1 1/4 over hang.

Put a half riser board below the front of each tread.

I'm a DIY wanna be, trying to build a staircase the way you did. Can u tell me about the tool yo used to make those slots for the treads. Thanks
@tableswood69115 жыл бұрын
It is just a piece plywood. The reces is the size of the treads. I use a piece of hardwood for the angle (45*).
@rsanchez71114 жыл бұрын
You’ll need a router. At least 3 hp with a straight cutter. Or spiral cutter according to the thickness of your tread you need to make your own template keeping in mind the size or you router guide

Hey, thanks for the video. Do you just rely on glue to keep your treads in place or do you screw and plug them too?
@tableswood69116 жыл бұрын
thebignoiseman Hi. Never glue the treads in the raisers. This will make the treads split. I use nails of screws.

Great to watch, thanks. Are XL dominoes string enough to attach the stringers to the newels?
@tableswood69117 жыл бұрын
The President of The Internet Yes, they are very strong. I also put a screw in it.

Can somebody tell me how to make long stringer? 4,15m?I have some idea but want to make sure it will work as i have only one try😂
@sally6457 Жыл бұрын
Dominoes? Seriously? The treads are the same thickness as the strings, you already have a suitable template to hand, and the perfect cutter in the router for creating a mortise (but unfortunately completely wrong for stair housing joints) Yet you use a system designed for making furniture?? As a part of the balustrade, a newel post is there for safety reasons and is a structural component intended to take lateral stress from the handrail. Once they're glued in the natural contraction of the timbers will snap the Dominoes in 2,
