I have horizontally cracked walls but have a neat pattern of red marks in the middle of many of my bricks (every 4 or 5 courses) and there are bigger marks in the mortar -but less of them. I have drilled a hole in the wall but can only see the old fish-tail ties and the fluffy rockwool insulation but no new spiral ties as i was expecting! So, should I see the ends of new spiral wall ties behind the red blobs in the middle of the bricks or are the red blobs (which are slightly below the brick surface and a slightly different colour to the bricks), there for some other reason?

High Jon, I take it by the comments you have had the ties replaced? Has this been documented, is there any paperwork to suggest this is the case? Maybe the injection holes of cavity wall insulation. Best bet is to drop us an email from the website.

@@Domesticsurveys Hello, thanks for your reply. We have no paperwork but have since drilled more holes and can now see new spiral wall ties in most holes, but some holes have nothing in them. So I guess there would have been too many ties in the wall, or the builder ran out of ties.
