high end numbers are actually due to valve float. the valves arent CLOSING enough to actually make compression, hence all the power falling off. you actually need to LOWER the size of the lobes on the cam and increase duration. that way they are open longer, but just not as wide. a smaller cam lobe at super high rpm causes less float because it's not trying to slingshot the valves with a baseball bat. ive been building engines since the 90s, some at low RPM, torque monsters, and some that push over 9k. very very different geometry to keep valves happy. a cam'd drag car with 1000hp at 5000rpm has almost the opposite cam profile as 1000hp at 10,000 rpm.

Variable Valve Lift would be better known by one of its trademarked names "VTEC". Two separate cam profiles for the intake valves (not sure if they have VTECd the exhaust side on newer engines), driven by a oil pressure lockup actuated by a solenoid. Rev speed will be driven mostly by rotating mass, which includes flywheel weight, piston weight, and connecting rod weight. I get kind of a "Lancia had a baby with a Citroen rally car" vibe. It accelerates so slow for being so loud: literally my IRL car lmao. Yeah, those gears are waaaayyy too close together. I would start by lowering the ratios a bunch, and once the shifts are in the right spots, fiddle with the final drive ratio. You could do the maths to figure out the correct ratios, but where's the fun in that?

As for springs and lifters: The higher the RPM, the stiffer the springs need to be, otherwise you risk valve float. Technically your valves and head need to be strengthened too if you're expecting a lot of sustained high rpm driving. The reason you'd go for softer springs is for one that it'd cause unnecessary wear on the valves and head if the springs were stiffer than needed and also that stiff springs make for a REALLY loud valvetrain, so the customer would hear constant ticking at idle and stuff, which they tend to associate with a broken engine. Exhausts: Dual exhausts are a good idea on a large naturally aspirated engine, as you can make them large enough per bank to evacuate exhaust gasses quick enough to not cause back pressure, but since it's TWO exhausts, only dealing with one bank each, also SMALL enough to have the pulses of the exhaust match up properly and get a scavenging effect (through a vacuum the gasses pull in the right timing). Just for protocol: That has NOTHING to do with back pressure. Outside of 2-Stroke engines you NEVER want back pressure in the exhaust. The sound difference between a (true) dual and a single (or a dual with an intersection like an x or h pipe) is gonna be rather drastic at times. The front reminds you of older Alfa Romeos. Naca ducts at the top are the wrong away around

Trust me, auto mechanics is fantastic to get into, being self taught in my opinion is one of the best things to do, you learn at your pace. My brother taught me the basics then i learned anything else from the internet and my own truck i bought. I know about the springs and lifters some, variably valve timing is crappy, if you can mess around with your own tune you can definitely make more power and have it run smother. If your springs are stiff they will be harder to move obviously and return to they position faster and with more force, not a great thing but you don't want weak springs.

Single point EFI is, at it's most simple, a carburetor with a fuel injector instead of a carb jet. A lot of hotrodders experimenting with EFI use systems that resemble carburetors, bolt up to the same place on the intake manifold a carb would, but spray fuel instead of fuel sucking through a jet from a pressure drop in a venturi. MPFI places individual injectors right before the intake valve. These are either mechanical (a special pump driven by the serpentine belt that sends fuel at high pressure to the right place at the right time) or electrical (the injector receives an electrical signal to open a valve inside of it.) Direct injection is modern mechanical fuel injection that places the injector inside the cylinder head, after the valving. This uses a mechanical pump driven by a lobe of the camshaft to shoot fuel directly into the cylinder under very high pressure.
@TO-GOHAN Жыл бұрын
Hey Kosmo to help a bit with fuel injection. Mechanical fuel injection means the injectors fire/inject mechanically basically once fuel pressure reaches a certain psi it opens up. Single point efi means there is 1 small opening on the point of the injector nozzle and efi is electronic feul injection. Multi point operates similat to single point except it has multiple holes on the tip ie more fuel and beter spray pattern and atomization. Lastly direct injection is just fuel is directly injected into the combustion chamber. Whereas single point and multi point in automation is port injection. Hope this helps.

You should always merge your exhaust with a V configuration. And I mean always. The closer to the engine you position your merge, the more torque you'll make. The further away, the more HP you'll make. Its been proven time and time again to be the best configuration. Port matched headers into a merge, out dual. Another thing, connecting rod destabilization has to do with harmonics and the balance of the rotating assembly. Ive never played this game. I'm speaking reality here. However in a simulation format, the laws of physics should be the same as they are in real life. I have no idea if you're able to balance the rotating assembly or not. Ive seen you mess with the harmonic balancer settings which might be the move if you're running into high connecting rod stress levels. I'm actually an ex Marine but since 2016 I've been an Audi mechanic. They sent me to Germany for 7 months to learn the R8 inside and out. I'm proud to say I'm one of 5 men in Nevada who is certified to work on the R8. I'm the only certified guy in my area (Reno, Nevada). So believe me when I say I know my shit. big bore, big valves, big overlap, big exhaust, big throttle body. This has been the Honda recipe since the early 90s. Your problem is a lack of exhaust momentum at higher rpm, the rods experience stress because they aren't moving a piston freely, they basically ram the piston in the exhaust stroke like a second compression stroke which completely sets off the engine balance. Especially for a v10.

A lot of the rpm band is being wasted, probably airflow. The truck isnt exactly slow, 0-60 is about 5 seconds. The gearing also seems odd, but it could be because of the power drop off in high rpm...basically, it sounds like it wants to shift much sooner

Just a heads up I found when porting cars over the esc in beamng makes the performance tank

High cylinder count engines tend to need a heavier balancer

What update are you on for all the material options?

Should set the rev limit at way earlier. It doesn't help you to rev at 11k but make 20 hp.

yeah but 11k rpm go brrrr 😅

Don't keep the engine in the lower torque range of the upper rpm band. You have way more useful power down at like 6500 rpm. Also, remember that each piston is over 0.5l displacement, so you should make your exhaust proportional to the amount of airflow you need it to have. If you lower the counterweight the engine will reach max rpm faster but have less momentum to use and be less stable for power output.

Kosmo i have a tip get a v10 with a 9800rpm limit with no turbo and a light weight body it can go the 1/4 in 7.2s

It is slow because you're revving waayyy past peak power. You're losing like 70% power at redline
