A great aquascape Jake. It doesn’t look hanky at all. Thought was put into it and especially being an Australian endemic system, the corals will look phenomenal in there. 👍

I remember back in the engineering fab lab I had this innovative project idea that was "crystal clear" in my mind. Spent 5-7 min explaining my super cool idea to the team and the professor, a ton of hand gestures with waving and cutting motions and spitting out degree angles. When I finally finished I swear I could hear a cricket chirping in the background, everyone looked at me like I had sprouted a 3rd eye on my forehead. The professor stepped in and advised me to comeback but start with a drawing so everyone can get a clearer understanding of the madness brewing in my head.

I loved your idea for the angled piece of acrylic as a back wall! Let's see if any tank manufactures would consider doing that with the tank itself in the future. Excellent work as always Jake!

When I saw the scape, I was thinking that you lost your mind. I do like the point that you made about rockscapes though. I’ve made some cool rock ledges; multilayered platforms and steps that look amazing the first year. However, after the frags became mini colonies; I had to deal with flow issues. I’m looking forward to future videos 👍

I have the same tank so I'm following your progression as you build your tank. I'm going to use an algae scrubber since there's no room for a refugium. What are you using in each of the media baskets? I live pretty close to you in Longmont, CO. Do you ever allow outsiders to come visit your facility? Thx!

nothing in the media baskets yet since the tank is just starting up, and probably won't be packing them full since I want higher nutrients in this tank.

can this wave pump position work with sand bottom or it would blow all sand from back? This is great idea to hide pumps and also break strong flow for corals that don't like strong flow :D
@ReefBuildersVideo3 жыл бұрын
flow that is suitable for corals is rarely amenable to keeping pet sand beds in place
@heronaquatics46613 жыл бұрын
Probably, get some heat but I have always loved a rock - coral wall. Personal taste, if it's done well. Dived on a few, prefer it to some of the newer more modern look reefs, I have pumps running behind mine too, to prevent detritus build up. Any chance you can put some nice gorgonians on it, to catch the flow??
@ReefBuildersVideo3 жыл бұрын
I'll see what I can do, and certainly the wall dives are some of the most interesting and unique.
I love that it reduces reflection, might have preferred it to be dark, but it's really subjective.

@afyounie3 жыл бұрын
You can try a fish trap, DIY or bought. If that doesn't work, good old fashioned net does the job. I just recently had to catch two fish that wouldn't fall for traps. Took some time, but now they are gone. The other fish and clams can relax now.
@ReefBuildersVideo3 жыл бұрын
Definitely do some research on aquarium fish traps, it's incredible how easy it can be to catch fish with a trap

Most people use different colored tubing for dosing equipment, not sure if different colored water is stupid or genius??
@ReefBuildersVideo3 жыл бұрын
I previously used colored tubing but it was distractingly fluorescent, and I couldn't really inside. With clear tubing and colored additives, I get the best of both worlds.
@tsurro80863 жыл бұрын
@@ReefBuildersVideo I use 100% clear silicone tubing, very flexible and transparent, easy to see air bubbles etc, but colored water would definitely be better, might have to try it, now that’s another vid for you for sure!

I love your videos for the information and passion you provide for the hobby! It’s goddamn creative aquascape you did there! But, I really have to try hard to not get annoyed at the way you speak. Your breathing is really off putting and not enjoyable to listen to. Because you are inhaling through your mouth and do it in a gasping manner, it is way to apparent.
