I’d have to say that it’s the tide pools that got me into the hobby as a kid I would hang around them all day while my older brother would go off scuba diving on the bottom end of Victoria in Australia, great memories enjoy mate.😊

I recently bought some pre-quarantined fish. I would be buying more coral but trying to figure out why I have high chromium. Just sent a second icp test and heard they are shutting down due to health problems 😢

Also have some acro frags assorted will pick which ones transfer once it is set up and aquascape set up. Had wanted to put in larger tank but had health issues popped up and tank got mature enough and RBBTA to over 60 to 70% of tank and every full moon I get more ar a rate of maybe 50 bta a month. Makes it kinda hard to grow much of anything else if they decide they want to move. So the new tank will help prove to myself what I have learned

The one thing he didn’t talk about, is the cost if you’re going to give people a reason why saltwater is so much better you should be truthful and also explain it’s gonna cost you a lot. I have a 243 gallon salt water aquarium cost a lot to maintain it cost a lot to start up, you need really good lights to grow coral I have five hydra 32 HD lights 460 bucks a light to grow those corals what about protein skimmers they can go anywhere from cheap around 250 to 1000, what about wave makers the cost can be cheap or really expensive for those app controlled ones all the equipment is listing cost a lot of money. Fish cost a lot more in saltwater. What about the added calcium iodine magnesium vitamins goes on to what you can add or not add your tank in 25 years I’ve had my Tank I’ve got well over 10 grand invested in my tank between the tank corals corals fish live rock equipment frankly I wouldn’t recommend saltwater anyone. I dread having something happened and everything gets wiped out so throw that in there too, be prepared to spend a lot of money to have a fancy saltwater tank, anyone who disagrees with me doesn’t do saltwater so that wants you saltwater do a lot of investigation before you start. You’re gonna spend money if you want a pretty fancy tank, there is absolutely no way around it, if you slack off the salt water, you’re gonna burn yourself. Freshwater is a lot more forgiving if you’re lazy on your maintenance, keep that mind as well

Hello! So I am working in a resort and we have a coral nursery with hard corals. Do you think it would work out mix some soft corals in the coral frames? I still have to figure it out how could I attach them 😂 thanks!

Ijust dont get not needing a cycled tank for corals. Seems when you feed them it would produce ammonia and that would be toxic to corals. I have been waiting 6 weeks for my tank to cycle to add my corals. I know you are not here to read this. May you rest in peace Jake! So difficult to watch your videos!

Real cost, most tanks new 100$ minimum, Sand 15$, Live rock 20$, Salt or pre mixed saltwater 20$, decent heater 60$, light 50$, fish food and coral food 30$, clean up crew 20$, coral frag lower end 15$ each for a grand total of 330$ but keep in mind that’s without chemical which are another 45 avg and fish and if it’s not all in one a form of filtration and pump/ power head

The cetus dosnt say its a 85 watt only 50 Maybe reef photon does but cetus which is an H& m product dosnt. I am looking into this led but worrying about the spread being enough for a 30 wide tank. Its a 20g long so very narrow 30 x 12 x12. I know Jake has passed on sadly :( but just incase anyone else is reading comments on this led!!

@@ReefBuildersVideo Rock flowers would be cool and let them pick out a pair of clownfish. Blue Tuxedo urchin and/or conch. Nassarius and Banded Trochus Snails. Cleaner shrimp. Just make sure you put a lid on it. Don't want your kids to find Nemo on the floor :)

I believe captivate will help you create your own mix solution. First, they do have their Isol8 MT, which has 10 minor and trace elements in it. And I’m pretty sure that I have read that Chris will help you create a daily dosing solution, customize each month based on your ICP tests

New too setting up reef lights seems complicated is there preset schedule like on thr hydras where you can just download one that works for you tank and go with it. Been running 2 32hd on my tank but all I did was download a schedule from the ap and run with it never made one myself so wanted too buy some kessil and wasn't sure if they did
