0:40 Fun Fact : For what I can only assume was a cost-cutting measure, each bulb had one function on the taillight mainboard. So parking lights and brake lights were separate lenses. Only the front indicators are dual function.

This looks fantastic! Nice work on those wires too. Also love the bit of info about the mustang 😅
@BOABModels2 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah - it showed that they wanted the DeLorean more than just going for easy money. A Mustang does appear in the 2015 bit of part 2 though.

Good job, Thomas! I always liked the design of this car, even though it's far from special mechanicaly. Seems to be a good kit.

Oh yeah, it was a striking design and had good ideas but very much style over substance

For late 2024/2025, Aoshima is re-releasing these cars including the street/stock version with opening doors. This new version is what I would call more modeler friendly as pieces like the bumpers and trim are now separate so you will not have to mask as much. The wires that used to be molded to the body are now their own parts so you could convert a time machine kit back to street stock if you can't find one. Looks like the street kit just reuses the BTTF chassis anyway. There is also a photo-etch dress up kit available as well. Aoshima 064368 (BT-01) and 064351 (No.21).

Thanks, I've seen some of the early photos of those and they do look a real improvement. As much as I love the film, I may get one of the street kits as I've made the time machine twice now in this tooling.

I am building the new one right now, the mold is a lot better, doors are now seperate and can be opened or closed. All interior parts are seperate peices for more accuracy. The only draw back is that its molded in flying mode only, so switch to swich back and forth, however the rest of the new tool makes up for it.

Where was the kit from Kentmodel only have part 3 kits. Looking to do a build along watching your tutorial 👍
@BOABModels2 жыл бұрын
Kent models did have the others available but maybe not any more. I think Jadlam might have them or you can also find them sold new on eBay.

This is a sweet looking model :> I wonder if there is a stock DeLorean available, or can one be built from this kit?
@BOABModels2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot! Crazily, there isn't a standard DeLorean kit. I think you'd be able to make one from this with some sanding and filling. You'd need to add the louvres to the rear window though.
@mikeomally27292 жыл бұрын
what color did you use for the stainless steal body.
@BOABModels2 жыл бұрын
I used Tamiya TS-30 silver leaf - I then gave it a bit of a polish (no wet sand) using Tamiya fine polish just to simulate the brushed finish.

Hello did you paint the inside the roof?
@BOABModels Жыл бұрын
I think I did it in the same colour as the seats. You can't really see it once it's altogether though.

1:16 heh someone should build a BTTF time machine out of a foxbody Mustang :D
