15:10 holy moley, a stainless steel lego build would actually be so incredible. i dont know if it would have the same clutch power due to it being a lot more rigid than plastic, but the mental image of the weight of a stainless steel lego fidget toy is very good

Excited to get a hold of more than one! The custom plate design needs improvement, but it seems to behave differently with different materials, so I am going to experiment and then try to improve the 3D model based on what I learn.

oh my, i knew the final build would be the best but i didn't expect how hard my jaw would hit the floor. really stunning! the open sections in each segment add so much depth to the piece, especially with the black being so glossy and reflective. i also just love how chunky and cube-ish the giant segments are

I really like these explanation videos. I always figured that there was some kind of science behind building all these contraptions, but it’s really cool seeing how much forethought goes into them to make them move this way and look this cool. It melts my brain, 10/10

This was incredibly satisfying!! I was flabbergasted by the final build… STUNNING. I couldn’t help but notice that the geometric star patterns match up with many geometric patterns I find interesting in Islamic art. I was curious if you or anyone you knew was doing anything interesting with Lego bending and Islamic patterns? As always, incredible work!!
@BrickBendingАй бұрын
You have a very good eye. I've been heavily influenced by Islamic design in recent years. AFAIK I'm the only public builder working in that space, but I hope many others are behind the scenes. It's really challenging, but utterly amazing. I will do future videos on the topic, but this build started me on that adventure: islamicartsmagazine.com/magazine/view/ten_point_geometry_in_brick_by_brick_bending/

13 layers, 12 plates per block, 10 blocks, equals 1560 black tringle 4x4 plates for the last build. That is quite the expense.
@Drachenbauer15 күн бұрын
About the black one with the blor round pieces inside: How about blacing red rounds visible to the other side of the black 2x3 plates? This will make it shift between a blue and red side by the choice of the curling up direction.

i've been wondering... do you use any maths to plan out your builds? say, basic geometry and angles, just to predict how many repetitions of an AxB plate segment would be required to go one circle around. and as you increment the repetitions / no. of segments, how much bigger the angle between each segment increases by. with these simple calculations, i believe you could plan out HUGE spirals / stacking circles, without having to laboriously remake any parts. the maths can also level up as you plan to vary the flex/connections and/or when you add a third dimension to the flexing. since you also use CAD software already, builds using more complex segments with larger or more varied pieces... could lead to some very interesting mathematics. i'll bet a numberphile collab would be inevitable.
@BrickBendingАй бұрын
A Numberphile collab would be a dream come true. I don't often to the math, but that is by choice. I prefer the tactile adventure of exploration. I was in grad school for math when this whole adventure started, but I never finished. Math is a fond, but distant memory for me. But I'd love to work with folks who love the math as much as I love the art.

I went back and watched the Macaroni Sun video, and it said you used 630 of those pieces. That got me thinking: What's the largest order you've ever placed on one piece? What's the largest order you've placed in total? Both in terms of piece count, weight and cost. What's the highest piece count on one of your builds? What's the heaviest weight on one of your builds? How many Lego pieces do you currently have (roughly)? Which piece do you currently have most of, and how many? How do you come up with your builds? They have a mathematical symmetry to them, so I imagine some planning goes into it. Or do you just sit down and stick a few things together and get inspiration that way? And a million other questions. Would be great if you would do a video dedicated to the behind-the-scenes aspect of this pretty unique approach to building Lego.
@cinnamoncat895019 күн бұрын

For those made of 2x2 plates and 1x1 round plates, instead of just removing a segment you could turn it into two 1x2 segments, then it could be made to look solid at a glance. I think that would be quite satisfying.
