I think what would be cool and probably a fair marketing scheme for LEGO is to make a universial remote control set that looks like one of those massive remote controls for a large scale model. That way, they wont have to use so much time and energy trying to keep up with all the different OSs, i.e. Apple and all the different variations of Android. That way, one could sync with certain sets and not have any interference with other controllers in the area.

Me and my dad collected Cat models since about 2000, we started with the Ertl models, and moved into other manufacturers. My dad has so many, I lost count. Unfortunately my father passed away back in February, so this set kinda would be bittersweet to have, granted I can afford it one day before it's retired. I still want it, though. And as for my dad's Cat collection, I will be taking possession of it shortly after I move in the next few weeks.

I agree with the idea of having a remote that works with the set. Doesn’t even have to be a fancy custom matched piece, just something that makes it function when my phone doesn’t work with it anymore. I have the excavator from when I was I think 11, and as much as the controls aren’t… ideal for that set, it still works 11 years later.

The set looks good and the functions are ok, but the price is a huge cheek. Still no accumulators and still an app that only works with a smartphone, that's not possible at all. You can not even guide the rear extendable arm to the ground (Too bad you just made a cut here in the video). The new chains are cool with their width of 7 studs and I also find the color suitable, however, no more dampers can be attached. Instead of the extendable ladder, LEGO should have used automatic chain tensioners. Then you could adjust the chains to the ground while driving. That this should be the best LEGO technology set I think is a very bold statement. LEGO technology is characterized not only by appearance, but especially by functions and creativity in the implementation. The set looks great, but honestly: There is a lot you can do better. FINALLY INTRODUCE ACCUS! What year are we living in here? Sorry, that had to come out. Still, a super great video. PS: even $400 is way too expensive. You only get half the motors and accessories as the LIEBHERR model and no more, or special parts. That means all the money goes to Caterpillar and LEGO's already very large profit pot. It is an audacity to set the price so high. 350 dollars is more appropriate here.

I bought this bulldozer for my son for Christmas, and we put it together and noticed that the remote control was not operating the movements/items that it showed, for example the ladder was being controlled with the bulldozer buttons. We took it apart, checked the wires, rewired it and put it together again, and it seems its doing it again. Anyone have any suggestions, tips?!?

@georgeewing29932 жыл бұрын
Check the orientation of the orange coloured clutch. Page 108,book 1.. In order for the remote functions to match the app the clutch must be fitted to the shaft as shown in the instruction maual. I just tore mine down,spun the clutch around the other way and now all the functions match with the phone app. Hope this helps..

I hate not having a real controller. The cool thing about Lego is we can get off our phones and play with a real tangible toy! And to then have to sit behind a screen sort of takes you out of the moment. Also, technology doesn't last forever. It's buggy! One day we may not be on smart phones. Technology moves incredibly fast. In the next 15 years, we may be moving away from pocket phones as we know them.

Liebherr? It is pronounced more akin to Leabhairr, with ‘leab’ as in leaf and ‘hair’ a bit flatter and an emphasis on the ‘rr’. The name would literally translate into loveman or dear man.

@@drfutato eh, BMW is an abbreviation and as such it makes perfect sense to just call it by its letters in whatever language. As for proper names I do appreciate it when people make an effort in pronouncing them correctly, otherwise we might as well call everybody John. It shows a bit of respect towards identity. It is no hanging matter though and I for one am very much used to people butchering my name. Still a little bit of effort goes a long way. In this case I was just providing some information. About the longlivity: Control+ will change or die - because C+ is a 'product of its own'. The question is: Will PoweredUp as a protocoll die..? No one knows. But if I take a look at all the electronics I damaged over the years... I usually look at it this way: The connectivity "port" is the crossaxle. Electronics and possibilities change over time, but as long the cross axle is a cross axle, you can always upgrade even very old models to the newest features of Lego-electronics. =)

Fully agree on the Control+ statements. LEGO make a LEGO Control+ controller which can operate all Bluetooth LEGO devices/sets. SBS is right - we could all be running ChinaiPhone in 10 years and our LEGO sets would be bricked (you see what I did there? - smartphones not working...bricked...LEGO). But yeah - depending on smartphones running iOS 14-18 or Android 7-13 and the likes is really NOT a way to goo for LEGO bricks that lasts 50+ years.

Dealbreaker question at this price point: does it come with a remote? Some time later: oh, never mind. 13:15 no ,they are only going to do that after they cancelled the app and leave you no other option than buying an overpriced controller, at least that is what I would guess. Cool Review. But the set (objectively seen) isn‘t as good as you describe it I guess. The set is indeed good looking. And it’s big. And I love Lego Technic and the D11 since I was little too. So this got me reeeally stoked as well. But there are problems that I think shouldn‘t be- especially in this price range. - the ladder is mounted very poorly and can easy fall off - the ripper doesen‘t reach the ground - the upper fake aktuators from the ripper crash against the back of the cabin when lifted all the way up - the blade ist very very slow - the blade bends the actuators, when lifted all the way up One has to mod this set, to make it better, sadly. This in combination with the mad overpricing and the bad C+ system, sadly makes it a dealbreaker for me. The set will soon be available for around 300$ I guess.
