Absolutely love the setup for the tent. Do you have dimensions for the platform and wood framing. I really like the simplicity of the setup with the tent inside of the wooden frame protected by the Rain cover which is held up by the timbers. The overhang by the door entrance is really nice and well thought out.. I'm thinking of building one very similar and actually doing a 2nd patio base that js just covered by a rain cover for sitting outside of the tent when it rains and still be out of the weather. Nice job. Looks good.

Hey Suburban Workshop, We had DAVIS TENT customize our tent to fit our needs at the time. It is 12' x 12' with extended side walls for more head room. I built the deck 12'x12' to fit the tent and then added the 4' porch extension. Because it is a custom built tent, the log dimensions really only work for this tent. When we ordered the tent from DAVIS TENT they gave us all the finished dimensions of the tent and rainfly and I built the log supports to those dimensions. Give Davis Tent a call, they are great to work with. Tell them I sent you and THANKS FOR WATCHING!

Hey Luke, I used GRK Structural screws to attach the logs to the deck. I drilled and countersunk the logs to hide the screw heads. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!

@@mytwelveacres3071 Just found your channel while researching Wall tents. Our good friends have a property that they may allow us to build something like this on. Can you provide a folllow up video to explain the details on how your securing those angled logs to the deck please. I read your explanation above, but its still not clear to me how they are secured, and how the screws are hidden. This is a great looking design BTW.. LOVE this idea for a economy based getaway shelter similar to a cabin!

Thank you for taking the time to share!! I've returned to this video several times for wall tent inspiration. Finally at the point where I'll be putting one of my own up in a few weeks, and I'd like to replicate this design as much as I'm able. Do you mind sharing what angle you cut the bottom of the A Frame logs that sit on the deck to?
@mytwelveacres3071
@mytwelveacres3071 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Nina. I can surely get that angle for you but that angle can and will change depending on other dimensions. Specifically the height and width of your tent as well as the finished height of your rain fly. I actually drew the front view out on my barn floor to figure out the lengths and angles of the poles. Unfortunately I did not document that process very well. I will get that angle and reply back to you. Thanks for watching and good luck on your tent build, you will love it! Feel free to contact me at mytwelveacres@gmail.com if you have any other questions
@mytwelveacres3071
@mytwelveacres3071 2 жыл бұрын
I did check the angle Nina, the logs are at a 60 degree angle so the cut end would be around 30 degrees. but again, that can very depending on other factors. Good luck!

@@EllieMcGeeee Our tent is 12 x 12 feet with 10 inches added to the wall height. The rain fly has a 4 foot extension on the front and 1 foot extensions on the eves and back. Awesome build - well done! Couple questions that I wasn't able to locate in this thread: 1) What are the dimensions (roughly) of the logs that you sourced for the job? Also, what are the rough dimensions of the deck platform? Thanks.

Hey gregebel, the deck is 12x16 ,the logs for the A frame are 6-8 inches in diameter and approximately 12 feet long. The horizontal logs are 4-5 inches in diameter and around 17 feet long. The ridge beam is laminated 2x6 and about 18 feet long Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

Hi there, I just received my wall tent today and am excited to put it up but first things first. . . . I am building a platform to put it on and would like to build a frame for the tarp as you did, could you tell me the length of those angled logs?
@mytwelveacres3071
@mytwelveacres3071 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Kelli, Congratulations on getting you wall tent!! It will be a few days before I get back to the tent to get any measurements. The length of the logs that you need could be different from what I have, it all depends on the tents total hight and that varies depending on manufacturer and or how your tent was made. We had our walls made 10 inches taller to afford us more head room . If you get that total hight measurement, I may be able to give you a better idea on your log length. Thanks for watching!

Hey Lynn, there is a small cross member at the top of the A FRAME logs at the front of the tent. From that cross member I placed an angle brace log back up to the end of the ridge. That eliminated most of the wiggle. After lashing the RAIN FLY on, the frame is rock solid. We have had some high wind events with no problems. Thanks for watching!
