Don't worry about a heavy bike, it will preserve momentum. Harder to get it going but easier to keep it going. I read an interview with a guy in the UK who's famous for only doing Audax rides (how far you can go in a set time usually 12+ hrs). And he does it on a cheep £300 steel frame - rest of his bike is worth a fortune though. TLDR - as long as your not doing hills #Holland and not having to stop for traffic often, a heavy frame is actually better.

Nice! The two-color paint on the square tubes really lights it up!. A stronger steel alloy such as 4130 may flex less.
@mikekrasovec63903 жыл бұрын
All steel is equally stiff. Different steel alloys will have significant differences in elongation, corrosion resistance, strength, ease of machining/abrasion resistance, ability to withstand high temperatures when welding... Rigidity is largely about cross section or diameter as it's diameter x diameter x diameter x diameter x wall thickness x rigidity of the material (for example aluminum is a less rigid material than steel for a given amount) ÷ length ^3. A stronger steel such as cromo, heat treated cromo, heat treated air hardening steels such as 4340... allows larger diameters with thinner tubing walls which allows it to be stiffer and lighter and probably stronger.

Is the front disc wheel just for asthetics or does it serve a real purpose for stability? Normally you only run a single disc wheel on the rear on a Track or TT bike. If you didn't opt to run both front and rear disc wheels for aerodynamics.
@Raphson3 жыл бұрын
It's merely an aesthetics thing. It is an authentic used bike-polo front wheel which was given to me. I wanted to honour this former bike-polo player. But indeed, it's absolutely horrifying to ride this thing during wind! You must be so alert.
