Or for smaller adult archers. I have from GREAT PLAINS TRADITIONAL BOW COMPANY, the Youth Longbow in Hickory at 45 pounds as my current draw of 24.5 to 25 inches is close to the bows 24 inches. The Youth models are No longer shown on the custom page but you can still get them, just have to ask about the bows in a section below, the company stopped advertising the bow due to either too low or two high request for the model. The other dropped model this for good is the Howard Hill style Longbow was not enough requested over the more modern tapered American Style Longbow limb bow that still meets the World Archery 3D Longbow rules of how much reflex the bow can have. People that want a Howard Hill style specific bow with flat handle more often want to get it from a brand that only makes Longbows no other designs with at most the higher Reflex/Deflex as a model or two.

Traditional bow hunters/shooters are more concerned with "how/why" the pinnacle is reached rather than the prize itself.. This video captures this so beautifully and i hope to see more like it. Thank you.

That short draw lenght looks very similar to comanche instinctive shooting; might not be a repeatable sniper, but still make a very good pure instinctive and compact bow, untill you wear out the hex key or bolt :P You might consider switching to those hand tied knob bolts. Great to see you experimenting with take downs.

You mentioned that you've needed around 50 prototypes for "The Bones". Wouldn't it save a lot of time and money to use a CAD-programme for drawing the design an another one like e.g. "Super-Tiller" to virtually test that design. Most of the time, when I create new bow-designs I don't need to build more than two prototypes. It takes me an hour or so for the first draft of the design and another hour for the calculations. Then it will take me an hour for adjustments on the design and new tests. So, all in all, I need around eight to ten hours until the results of the calculations fit my ideas and I can start building a router template for the bow-form. Usually the calculations are about 95% accurate and the bow comes out fine so that I can see where adjustments need to be done to meet the final 5%...

Cool to see your inspiration and going though even if it is not exactly what you imagined when you started. I have just finished building my fourth bow... well fourth attempt at a board bow. First worked but was underweight from what I wanted. Second worked and I shot a few hundred arrows through it before it cracked at a spot in the grain I knew was bad! Third I got Impatient and went to ofar too soon breaking it while tillering... But my latest one.. .I I think I finally made enough mistakes to learn how to do it successfully. Keep striving for excellence!

If you wanted to create gold rush trend make replacement limbs for old Bear Compound bow's,.....then wall hangers would function again to full power. Or you could sell a kit where all they had to do is glue the limb's together.

Yes the bow being short will make it stack sooner, but so does having so much reflex in the riser. By pushing the limbs forward of the pivot point like that you are essentially increasing the draw length the limbs have to travel, and reduces the workable brace height. It will make a fast but also twitchy bow prone to torqueing. For a stable smooth drawing bow you really want the limb pocket ending in line or even better with deflex and behind the pivot point in the grip.

I was wondering if when you prototype new designs like this if you document measurements and templates for each revision so you can recreate it or modify for the next version or if you just build it and if it is good take measurements and make revisions off the finished bow design.

Beautiful bow Kramer, How fast is it at 25” and what is the current draw weight? Could you build new limbs that at say 3” longer on each side to fix your draw length issue or do you have to increase the riser length as well? An idea what price range it will end up in when you’re done?

Love this video and that bow! I was wondering, since the bow was designed to be a packable takedown bow, could you make a longer set of limbs for it so you have multiple options from the same riser?

When you had the fire hose on the form, what is inside it? Air or water. Curious. You rolled it on flat but removed it filled. I believe. If I'm understanding the video correctly

For curiosity sake, what did the bow come out at? With the 24 inch draw, what's the draw weight, and, I'm curious, for the sake of science and learning, how it performs with an arrow tuned for it. Would you say, as 25 or 26 inch arrow, (shorter than normal for you to match the shorter drawlength ?) Weighted appropriately, I'm curious.
