if the front edge is water, what would you think about bridging the crawl gap with bridges (making the crawl space analogous to the entrance to brick bay) in order to make it more forgiving to crawl through?
@RobinHoodBricks
@RobinHoodBricks 3 ай бұрын
I'm thinking it'll be a headland of rock so we can get the height even higher. The tables are lower now so I don't want to crawl under water level. I'll still have bridges but not over the crawl space!

What would we do without the nordic nations :) No Lego, no IKEA... It would be a terrible world to live in :) Have you consicered a 2x2 kalax for the crawl space entry? You could use just the three sides as an arch. It would be "in the system" giving you a consistent height. It would probably need some strengthening in the corners though.
@RobinHoodBricks
@RobinHoodBricks 3 ай бұрын
We'd be a lot poorer, that's for sure. I want it higher there for a better crawl height. It'll be even higher than this and be a headland breaking up the coastline!

Now would be the perfect time to transfer to the MILS system when you rebuild the entire LEGO city. It really isn’t as much as people think As you have the baseplate, can use any random cheap used 2x2 from bricklink in the middle of the plate and cover it with new roads, custom paths, footpaths, bike tracks etc. Small investment as you go and as you expand etc for the complete flexibility to change and move around later on. Just a thought while it’s the ideal time to make the change
@Nphen
@Nphen 3 ай бұрын
Dollar stores have baseplates for $1.25 and they're almost as good as Lego. Since I'm going to cover them up anyway, why pay more? One of the best builders at a local convention told me he used them. His work was great; I wasn't about to doubt him, so I went to Dollar Tree to check. There was a box of baseplates on the shelf. I took 4 plates out of the box, left them on the shelf, and bought the other 14 plates and brought the display box home. They also have 1/4 baseplate-size plate (16x16) for the same price. Only $1 cheaper than Lego 16x16, but nice for groups of minifigs.
@RobinHoodBricks
@RobinHoodBricks 3 ай бұрын
I don't like MILS. I'll be building on lots of different l vertical evels and do pretty well with custom paths etc. I also don't like the new road system and have bought more of the old road plates to fill the extra space!

Awesome update, love it. And yes, it's very similar to a Lego video. How are you going to deal with the slightly higher side bits of the "top" and "bottom" shelves (in fact your sides), aren't those very very annoying when putting baseplates on top?

Love to see your shelf re-arrangement. Those boxes are just parts packs, right? A brick separator or similar plastic wedge can help take the stickers off. Don't ruin your thumbnails! Definitely use gloves with that lighter fluid lol. If you can find 91% isopropyl rubbing alcohol, or some nail polish remover. I guess lighter fluid might be cheaper per ml than those.
