I'm 21 and I wanna get into it. Can you recommend something beginner friendly? Or where I can look for information on like colours and stuff :)
@robertstephen62243 ай бұрын
@@apandanamedleo2123 The best thing to do would probably look for beginners kits that are simple snap together kits. Just read the box before you buy the kit it should say snap together. There are also simple glue kits. Painting and paints are are usually listed on the instructions. Use acrylics paints made for plastic model kits. I use spray acrylic paint for say the body of a car. and brush paint finer detail. I sometimes cut down a paint brush to three or four hairs for fine detail such as buttons on a dash board. I usually have several different brushes and tooth picks I use for glue application. Glue can get messy and ruin a model so use it sparingly. Build a model slowly one step at a time. Good luck.

Thank you so much for your in-depth videos! Your videos are so comprehensive and approachable that you've given me the confidence to try my hand at model-building for the first time since a disastrous first attempt when I was a young child! As someone that is entirely new to this, I especially appreciate your attention to detail and willingness to explain your choices and methods, it is like a private lesson and tutorial. I recently completed my own USS Voyager and considering it is my first model, I am very pleased with it. Your videos certainly helped me to tackle this project (if I had done this entirely on my own, I imagine it would have looked like a real mess!). Thank you so much, and I can't wait to dive into some more models!

Beautiful job with this kit. It's a kit I will be building in 2023. Appreciate this video with all of the good info you've provided. Its better looking than the old Monogram model. I did lots of modifications to that one back in the day adding missing details. Also liked the copper you painted on the warp nacelles. You don't see many paint them in the off mode.

Thanks! Looking forward to seeing your build of it. I think there's lots of room for everyone to put their own spin on this kit. If I did it again I'd probably so it slightly different, but still really happy with how it came out, looks great on the shelf. 🙂

I started watching you about a year and a half ago. I got into modeling because of you. I want to thank you for that. So far I’ve built the following: 1:1000: -Original enterprise -Refit with battle damage -Enterprise A -Defiant 1:1400: -Enterprise D -Enterprise C -Enterprise E -Enterprise B -1:350 enterprise A (Bought another to assemble in the future as the refit. Took 2 months to build the A) -Romulan Warbird (not sure of scale) -The 2500 scale “All the enterprises” was the video I watched that you did that started it all -1:537 enterprise refit -Burton/Michael Keaton Batmobile And I am wrapping up a 1:48 AMT Airwolf model. Will be done with it tomorrow. Kits I have sitting in boxes and pissing off my wife ready to build next: -1:350 Klingon bird of pray -Klingon V’orcha class -Klingon battle cruiser Undiscovered country -Kardassian galore class 1:750 -1:1000 Reliant -1:1400 enterprise D with resin “All good things” enterprise conversion kit -Another 1:350 enterprise refit kit -And the “Build the enterprise D” from eagle moss. Up to issue 34. They cut me off after that for the last 2 months saying everything is back ordered. I know you aren’t a fan of the way this ship looks because I saw your comment the one time. Lol. The reason for this long list is to show you what you have done for me. If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have started this awesome hobby which has helped me deal with things in life. So keep on doing it my brother.

@@modelchili I would love to send you pics. But KZbin doesn’t let us post pictures. Is there a way I can send them to you? He has asked me to send him pics to feature on his channel. I told him I would because he asked, but admitted that I don’t fill in my gaps that much on my models and would fear they would be inferior to his and others that post. But we are all brothers in this hobby so there should be no shame. I am happy to be a part of it and wanted you to know you are the reason why. God bless you brother and thanks for responding.

It really feels like the Defiant should be smaller. I've seen a few references to it being 120m long whereas this model is based on it being 170m long. And it's hard to get an accurate number by watching the show because the size of DS9 is not really set in stone either.

I've been hoping that Round 2 would issue this kit. Currently working on the 1/1000 U.S.S. Reliant which will round out just about all the movie models in that scale. Just a little disappointing that they never issued the Enterprise E in 1/1000 scale. It's good that you and other builders do videos of your builds. Sometimes the instructions with some kits are not exactly clear on where things have to go. The videos sure help other builders that might get stumped on something and trust me, I have ran into a few on several builds.

It would be interesting to see how this looks compared to the 1/1000 Space Battleship Yamato 2199 kits (you built the Andromeda from that series a couple of years back).... you probably already know that Bandai has released pretty much all the ships from the anime that are still sensible in 1/1000 (i.e. not the big villain endboss ships, but all the cruisers and destroyers and whatnot), and some of the smaller ones would make for nice quick builds. :)

I am very glad that you noticed the fairing differences in the back section of the saucer. The CGI's oddly curving upwards of the physical lines there, never sat right with me. Always figured it was a lazy, or rushed, more likely, piece of 3D modeling. The additional changes to the front of the warp coils, perhaps, was a nicer "evolution", as they begin curving inward at the front of the nacelle on the CGI model. Ended up sort of liking that. Your painting detail to match the shooting model photos, I think, is a much nicer, added touch. The physical model had so much going for it, that it was almost a shame that the CGI version was introduced so early in the show's production. But, advances in technology and the need to conserve money in a production environment dictate the adoption of a cheaper, if not perfected, means of representing the ship as early as possible.
@modelchili2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed! Yeah the filming model was a beauty, it's a shame they used the CGI version so much, but I supposed it allowed many more shots that might not have been possible otherwise.
