There was an episode where Janeway went down to the absolute lowest decks and didn't know her way around, having to ask a crewmember for directions. Always thought that gave a good idea of just how large these ships are internally.

@@WoodysAR not true actually, Kirk had to ask directions on the refit, and the D was large enough anyone could get turned around, its almost as if they used the same 3 or 4 sections of corridor set for every part of the ship! As for Archer, we'll the NX was tiny and he literally helped build it, but don't worry, theres plenty of other flaws to abuse Archer over.

Yeah, Voyager was a legit proper ship. Would love to see the Nova class for comparison (remember the episode 'Equinox', when Voyager runs into anothe stranded Federation vessel? The one comitting alien-murder to fuel their way home?) or the Defiant. Now those are small ships.

@Jonny F that's extremely common actually, the Gallileo shuttle interior is way to large compared to the exterior set model. There's easily standing room inside for Nemoy who is over 6 feet tall but the exterior prop only has about 5 1/2 feet of space. Discovery finally canonized this by making the 31st century shuttles canonically larger on the inside than outside.

Things I learned from this video. Cpts quarters are the big set of windows pointing fore. Mess hall is the small set of windows above it. Not sure why but always imagined it to be the reverse. Sets of recessed windows in engineering hull are just offices. Always imagined them to be engineers quarters. Cargo bays are huge. Knew they’d have to be large but never imagined they’d take up such a sizeable portion of primary hull. Unused Aerowing footage. Okay, now my mind is blown as I’d never seen that before. That’s just too cool for words… Still cannot believe the captains quarters are larger than the space given to the main mess hall used by the whole ship. I’d move them and place them directly behind the ready room with an adjoining door between the two. The rear observation lounge seems a little superfluous given that it’s so far away and not reachable directly by turbo lift. Id turn it into an intimate bar/restaurant. The kind that comes with a waiting list.

Remember the Delta Flyer was originally not a part of Voyager's shuttlecraft inventory as Tom Paris had designed the Delta Flyer from scratch and the ships engineering crew worked around the clock to build it as they were racing an alien race to recover one of Voyagers probes that became stuck in the atmosphere of a gas giant.

If I had to guess like the Captain's Ready room the Captain's private dining hall would be a place where he or she could relax while having private meals to themselves though with the Captain's Ready Room on the Intrepid Class looks more like the Captain's quarters with how big the room is I mean it looks like you could fit 2 or 3 Captains Ready Rooms from a Galaxy Class Starship in there it was that big.

I appreciate the work put-in to fill-out these empty volumes. I must make a couple of nitpicks though in tried and true fashion. First, the side of the conference room is shown being used to leave without going into the bridge, so it can’t just be a wall. I propose it’s connected to the corridor out back of the bridge. They also occasionally show people leaving Janeway’s ready room and then being in the corridor behind the bridge too, so I think having some machinery there doesn’t make much sense, we can just have more corridor. Also, the plasma control room is on the outer edge of deck 15 rather than in the middle, and it’s shown to be smaller than in your model. Even though there’s clearly no real reason to have it be so small. Very thorough though. I actually hadn’t realised that the path from the warp core to the nacelles was so short on the Voyager.

When reading these schematic, it doesn't always follow the show directly. In addition, it is possible I may misinterpret the 2D schematic (which happen more often than it should) : ) , but I do appreciate viewers feedback regardless since I haven't watched the show in awhile.

Absolutely LOVE your videos @halfscreen!!! I really enjoy seeing these detailed breakdowns of my favourite starships. I greatly appreciate your hard work creating these graphics! Excellent quality!! However I have to agree with @kaitlynn_L, there are small discrepancies compared to the TV show as well as the computer game "Voyager - Elite Force". Having watched the show more than 7 times and played the game as many times, Voyager is like home to me :) I LOVE this ship :) Conference room and Ready Room both have turbolift access without going through the bridge as shown multiple times in the show. Officer's Mess and Captains Dining room are off scale and the shape of the room is wrong compared to both VOY and DS9 TV shows. Shape and size of the sickbay is way different than in the show and the game. And the corridor outside sickbay is always portrayed as a long straight corridor. Engineering is missing the left and right console areas facing the reactor core as well as the small consoles directly in front of the core. Deck 15 is missing multiple windows as shown on both the show and the game. Again I'm just nitpicking because Voyager is very close to my heart... hope you don't mind :)

I didn’t realize how much of the saucer section was taken up by the cargo bays. For some reason I always assumed they were in the engineering section but always had a hard time placing them because of how big they were. The episode where they put everyone in stasis pods finally makes a bit more sense now.

There is several references to the mess- when voyager left spacedock it didnt have an officers mess, it was due to be installed when they returned from the badlands Chakotay says on the 2 nd episode, it is suggested they convert a cargo bay to fill that need. When Neelix creates the kitchen janeway demands to know what happened to her dining room and Neelix tells her they created the mess. That room is on a outer wall not facing forwards but to port side and contains the kitchen, larder, prep room and a substantial dining room that converts to medbay, concert hall etc etc. it is nothing like those two examples given

Nice made... BUT some things don't fit... 1. Each deck looks different... there is no sign that there are turbolifts connecting the decks. 2. In the lower levels the space for the retrackable landinggear is missing. 3. Cargo rooms are totaly forgotten. At the outside view there was told that there are some access points for cargo/supplies at the bottom... where are they in the inside and where are the storage rooms for them. 4. The warp core engine room should be at least 2-3 decks high. The ejectable warp core itself (outside view) seems to be several decks high. 5. For the number of crew there are way to few quaters. Even if you put 4 per room in two shifts, the rooms are to small... what would cause problems on long explorations. 6. From the TV Shows Star Trek Holo suites design seems to be two decks high no matter what ship or station you are. The artist might rethink some Design decisions. ... just saying

Just finished the 7 seasons of Voyager. Greatest series just beaten out by TNG and the legend Picard himself. Surviving in the Delta quadrant would have been much easier with the Enterprise D's weapons and resources, but they made it. First 3 seasons suffered from Kes and bad writing, but the remaining seasons were acceptable. Congrats on the amazing walk through. Now it all makes a little more sense.

Don't forget for Deck 1 the entire Bridge Module/Deck can eject from the ship in an emergency to act as a lifeboat. @krane15
@krane15 Жыл бұрын
The figured out how to solve where all those shuttles came from?
@sgt.bonkers8706
@sgt.bonkers8706 Жыл бұрын
@@krane15 From my understanding, the intrepid class not only has a shuttle storage of 15+ shuttles, but also a shuttle engineering bay, including a industrial scale shuttle part replicator. That also explains the ease with which Paris and the rest of the crew could assemble the delta-flyer after designing it. It literally was a mater of designing the parts, straight up replicating them in full, and assembly. And since the intrepid class was meant as a designated deep space exploration vessel, autonomy and ability to resupply operational resources away from federation infrastructure were always priority considerations in its design process. So it makes sense to not only fit it with state of the art offensive and defensive capabilities, but effectively turn it into a factory ship, too. This also explains the 3-deck high, double fitting of holodecks which made up a considerable part of the intrepid class's rather limited internal space: if you plan to send out crew on such long missions away from federation space and possibly outside of com-range, R&R for the crew becomes a priority-consideration, too. The caretaker couldn't have picked a better prepared ship to doom into a 75 year journey home.

While I never cared for "Voyager" as a series, the "Intrepid" class is my favorite Star Trek ship hands down. Sleek and practical.

A common thing I've noticed with all these ships is a copious amount of observation/sitting rooms. Why are there so many? These could be gyms, infinity pools, recreation rooms, holo pods, emergency weapon/medical/shelter rooms, etc. Granted, these rooms may have been adapted for those uses, but you'd think these ships would have at least one dedicated gym with a locker room. The NX Enterprise is the only ship that I can recall having a dedicated gym.

That would be DS-9. It surpassed even TNG. The episodes were so much more compelling. Once they got their sea legs at Season 3

I'd really like to see some of the other less known Enterprise models like B and C or even the reliant. I really like watching.
