Hi Andy, I really love your work. In most cases just the basic set, glue, paint and wheatering. That's the way most modellers work. No fancy aftermarket stuff added except for a few details. I started modelling when I was about 10, and now at 62 I still love it. I've learned a lot since, and still learning from you. And with all stuff now avaiable it has become much easier.

Ronald VAN TOL So true especially most of the new models today are of pretty good quality nowadays. Some of them may already have many parts within the boxes. I now just stick to Tamiya most of the time as I can enjoy the satisfaction of completing the model within a reasonable amount of time.

Back on October 6, 2015 you said that you think that people tend to over do it when it comes to chipping and weathering. I agree wholeheartedly! Having served with armored vehicles and later around heavy equipment, I really don't know why people believe that tracks get so rusted. Or really why those same folks think that the crew wouldn't do everything possible to eliminate rust. That piece of equipment keeps you and your buddies alive so you take care of it. Now fuel stains and oil in strange places makes perfect sense to me but we never let rust get a good hold. Thanks for the videos sir.

Dito too Ronald VAN TOL comments...just to add Andy I am very keen to see how you might approach battle damage and or more severe wear to a model. Another great build Andy. It's the little things like topping up tamiya paints with thinner which really do help us who are fairly new to the hobby. I'd agree with you that this is a very good, friendly kit. I'd add that it is a good start for anyone looking to do their own zimmerit (putty method) too. Not too many difficult areas, fairly easy. I've also taken on board your advise to use the lighter red and green. I'll be interested to see how that turns out on one of mine. Thanks

Andy, oh dear me. You cant dry brush with Tamiya acrylic paint, you will be there forever trying to get the little paint which has already dried onto the brush onto the model. Use enamel or oil paint, much easier and nicer results.

From what I can tell from this Jagdpanzer IV it was made on a late version chassis of the Pz IV J. Towards the end of the war Pz IV's took a hit because the lack of resources. Instead of 4 return rollers it was cut down to 3. The muffler also became 2 smaller exhausts then just one long one.

By way of a small comment. Most contemporary photos show that the Germans did not paint the road wheels and bogies of their tracked vehicles, they were left in the base colour. Two reasons have been cited - it was a waste of paint at a time when the Germans were short of materials and mostly the paint was soon covered in mud and local dirt. B

A piece of advice one gave. You will probably need ten or more efforts making all kinds of mistakes, but improving with each new kit. So, don' take it to heart. Learn tips and tricks with other modeliers, such as Andy, or any other model builder. There's a lot of help out there. Take advantage of it, and you'll be surprised how well you'll improve. Good luck, and don;t be discouraged. I'm 72, and I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I was in the beginning. It really does get easier and rewarding. Don't give up. Have fun.
