Guy I have just started making Tamiya 1/35 scale after 43 years since my last attempts. On my forth model an M40 self propelled gun. I have just given it a spray with Tamiya flat coat as seen in your video.what a great result. Keep up the good work Andy and keep making your videos.

thank you for posting! amazing kit . beautiful job completing a weapon that was known in our outfit affectionately as 'Ma Deuce'. or 'Big Ugly Fugger'. Patton once called the 155mm "the greatest battlefield implement ever"!
@nightjarflying6 жыл бұрын
Bullshit. Are you stealing valor? You misattributed that Patton quote - he said "In my opinion, the M-1 Rifle is the greatest battle implement ever devised" & the "Ma Deuce" is the name for the M2 Browning. There is no rational reason to call the M40 155mm "Ma Deuce".

Andy there is something that I do to add a thick layer of mud on tanks. What I do is take revell filler, and apply it thickly under the wheel wells with a really stiff big brush. Make sure you do a sort of stippling technique. Then you just paint over it with whatever colors you want or the tracks are being wheatered to whatever. It will go through quite a bit of filler, but it is well worth it.

Just a quick comment regarding painting of OVE (On-vehicle equipment, shovels, axes, sledges, etc.), these implements were painted OD until 1st Gulf War. Handles as well as blades. You would experience shading (oils) in wooden handles and scraping of blades, however, but not natural coloring.

Great build, Andy. I don’t generally build military kits, but might need to consider branching out for this beautifully well-detailed kit. I wanted to ask you, though, most everybody I’ve talked to says you need to put decals on a slick surface vs. matt to ensure good adhesion as well as no silvering will occur as the vehicle ages. Beautiful build!

@gunnarbaumer4927 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, great video sbs again. You might wanna consider the scale factor when it comes to painting tough. As large surfases reflect more light they seem much brighter. The XF62 is the most correct color for olive drab in scale modeling, that is right. But at a scale of 1:1 ! To achieve an appropriate tone in 35th scale you may want to add ~25% of XF60 Dunkelgelb. During the weathering process the whole vehicle receives washes, fading dust and alike. This additionally darkens the vehicle so much that you end up with an olive drab that is too dark. The same rules apply to all colors you spray, Andy. Please give it a second thought and your models will improve even more. Cheers and happy modeling Gunnar

Hi Andy, I'm also building this amazing model. Like you said all the parts are snap fit. Good engineering by Tamiya. Only comment I have is the price. For a €85,- model I would have expected a little more PE parts. For only €30,- more I could have the Trumpeter 1/16 PZKW IV, but that was a big to large to fit in a diorama. But never the less, this is a great model :D

Back in my elementary school days, I used to build Tamiya M-41 Walker Bulldog for the first time, and I recall HOW HARD for me to connect those rubber track. I tried everything from the manual, from gluing it with ALL KIND OF GLUE, staple it, up to heating it, but those DAMN RUBBER TRACK simply come loose when I tried to put it on those tank wheels. I quit building tanks from that moment on and switch to building aircraft models.
