Just a tip, have the struts around the other way so the shaft is pointing down when you assemble for the final time, the oil inside lubes the seals for the shaft and they last a lot longer
@ShenkeGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mate. I did look at strut orientation. You probably cant really tell but in the closed position (tray down) the rod is pointing down ever so slightly. So the oil will be sitting down at the seal in closed position.

Mate I am really enjoying your channel. Can't wait to see the tray finished. It's and awesome design. I was thinking maybe you can use an electric boot latch for the locking system.

Tray looks good. But my back and head are moaning looking at the set up. You may not have a bad back now Imagine filling that tank leaning over and around those wheel guards. How many time will you cut your head or shoulders open on the arches hanging down? I'd be putting a little door in tray so you can fill it up with it down. Chuck the tank back in and run up to the local servo and try it out before you commit fully.
@ShenkeGarage2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mate and appreciate the feedback. The fuel filler is close to the diff so should not really need to bend over underneath the guards that much. This Ute was never really built with practicality in mind. Its a week end cruiser and not a daily so I understand some things will be a pain.

Would also like pretty cool motorised press a button tray goes up press a button tray goes down way better then using your hand you gone to all the effect and motorised would be better if say
@ShenkeGarage2 жыл бұрын
At this stage the linear actuators were going to be too bulky underneath. Because its all low profile it is hard to get things to fit under.

Are you going to rego in qld. I’ve been told by tmr they wouldn’t pass me if I went for a 4-link conversion on my Ute, which-im guessing-is wrong information, because it doesn’t look that uncommon? Loving your build as well. DIY all the way 👌

I got interested in this series when I saw 'tilt tray', because that's what I want to do with my Hilux. But I want mine to be able to load a Harley on the back, so I'm going for a hydraulic tilt and slide setup, kind of like a scaled down version of a 'proper' tow truck. Looking at this one, is it going to be more or less just decorative? Do you have any plans to make it more functional in the future?
@ShenkeGarage2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mate this tray is purely decoration/show. This car was never built with practicality in mind. So at this stage I have no plans for functionality.
