Brings back fond memories. Started end of February finished by July. Glassed and painted, BMW Titan Silver. Note, do not use ARF C/G it will be 7/8 inch tail heavy! They are not the same!

Hi Brenton, As someone new to the building of planes, I wish there was a voice over behind the music talking about the build, with some descriptions to each picture. The pictures showing the build quality were fantastic, but without some explanation of your excellent work, I f/f through to the end. Would LOVE to see some tutorials as to how to do quality builds if you ever decide. Regards.

I have been out of the hobby for a few years.. I love building as much as flying. Where can you actually get quality build kits anymore. I cant find much anywhere and I am sad this great hobby is dying.. The plane is absolutely beautiful and I hope its still air worthy.

Mowdown I’m a builder too, one option to check out my s Ziroli Plans, there’s companies that make short kits that include all the laser cut parts for their plans. Also a company called Meister Scale, check it out

ahh I feel it... from cutting 1/8" lil plywood sheets to sanding 1" block.. my 60 inch span one took months before I even bought the engine.

Probably the best video on KZbin! Love the music as well.... I have the identical kit; started, but got sidetracked with other planes. This is motivational as well as an excellent build reference, thank you so much!

Incredible workmanship on this project. I love working with wood, it's one of my favorite pastimes. I've been contemplating an aircraft of the WWII vintage. This takes a lot of patience and I'm trying to figure it out, do I have the patience to build it? lol. The displays shown above show the price of the kits only, is that correct? Could you advise me on a plane to start with in this 'giant' class? I'd be interested to talk with you about it at your convenience. Thank's for sharing this video, I enjoyed it.

Looks like it will be a great build. I have a build going on at my channel. Its an old SIG Kwik Bilt Super Chipmunk. If you have time, take a look. Looking forward to seeing how your build turns out.

Hello, I am planning to build a top flite airplane too, but there aren't any decent plans for it so I decided to make my own. The question is are the spars strong enough? My plane has about 3 metre wing span, I was thinking about using an aluminum tube, is that excessive?
@SteveAubrey17625 жыл бұрын
I have a question that I am sure may raise some eyebrows but...what the heck! I love P47c Thunderbolts. However, I will never be able to own, let alone afford an original one. Looking at this video it got me thinking. If I were to scale the technical drawings up to between 75%-90%, mount a 300 go radial on it , do you think it would work? Naturally there would be some modifications, but the bulkhead nd longerons may be adequate. I mean, the model is designed to fly.
@danieldavies45615 жыл бұрын
yes, it has been done before , a chap has scaled up a model b17 and he now flys it around on youtube , theres a lot fo model aircraft been scaled up and flown . go for it dont listen to the naysayers . just do it .

Nice work! That's definitely a beast of a plane. I am finishing up the Top Flight P-15D .60 scale Gold Edition (65" wing) after putting down half built for 12 years. I must say I am enjoying the craft again.

I havent built a plane of that detail,but I built a plank on plank ship called the swift. I remember doing a few rubber band powered planes using the same method of building. I covered it with tissue and plane dope,then paint. I am sure I could tackle one of those but i would prefer covering with the iron on plastic fabric they use today. I remember watching the old timers used some kind of canvas material in the old days,I know you cant even get that material any more. We flew the line control planes back in the 60's and early 70's,there were no foam planes back then. I remember when they first came out,I said there is no way in hell I would buy a foam plane,lol. I have two now and make my own. I prefer electric now over fuel,simply because I dont have a storage place to put that stuff. Its a beautiful plane,would love to see you finish it. why does everyone criticize the music on builds? geesh who cares. Its about the build not the music.
@sammoore91206 жыл бұрын
Its great to see someone doing it like Back in the Day instead of just buying a pile of foam and a cutter! Beautiful work!

Sweet build, Brenton... I imagine you got your start let the most of us, with kits. But what I'm really curious about is how the transition to "scratch" building occurred, if there was one.

There is an innate love of building a good kit which produces the best final product as it is built with love and attention to detail.... Despite all of that, thank goodness for ARF's

i had one...did the razor back version...flew flawlessly with a Super Tigre 60 in it....it was just enough power to make it fly very realistic...never had that accelerating like a rocket from too big a motor which looks so fake imho.
