When you drive a 8v performance Golf it turns into a foxterrier. It chases anything that moves. You are just along for the ride! lol Both my son and I have spent 10 years doing track days and hillclimb events with our 8v Performance Golf's. Absolutely amazing times. No one can build you a fast Golf like Sarel does and it never breaks. Priceless moments when you beat turbo cars with a n/a Golf.

Over here in the states, I’ve been to plenty VW meets and shows since early 2000’s…I have NEVER seen a N/A 20 valve build yet! 👍 up to you guys for being different and innovative!

When i built my st150 with throttles i was pushing 115kw on wheels at KAR dyno with normal 95, then when I went supercharged it made 240kw on wheels on 1bar pulley also on 95fuel... will hopefully get my 20VT finished next year will see how that runs...

Awesome interview. Man knows his stuff.....experience. My Golf 2 16v got a tweek in '92 by Shaun Sing. BMW pistons Shrick cams, flowed head and 1500 diff, 020 gearbox. Loved that car, quick and reliable. Did a good 200+ k on that motor. Piston slap and all!😅

I used to have a Mk2 GTi 16v with 155bhp @ the Wheels. (115.5KW) It had high life Kent cams, ported, and gasflowed head. It ran on super unleaded 97 - 99 ron. It was rapid for a Mk2 16v. Still have the dyno print out from all those years ago.

Thanks for the video Batty, good content as always! This really brought back memories of 16V Kjet injection days. We ran high 15 16 seconds 1/4 mile with Tony Zabka motorsport tunes at Tarlton. Yoh, those were the days! I have to ask, you perhaps have the edition of the Gerotek day, My jumbo golf featured in a pic. I no longer have the mag. Cheers mate!

From a 16V ABF lover 🤪 Edit: The golf did Some dyno run’s a few years back on a “autodyn 30” where one run it did 184 flywheel hp. The torque is 214nm ,, this Numbers make my mk3 such an amazing driverscar. I know these Numbers don’t look amazing if you compare with New engines/cars.. But for a ‘95 car its a driverscar

Sarel we have 1St Performance in CPT the dyno numbers sound smiler to you guys up in JHB,not the VVL guys can make more then 140kw on that Dyno with cams and E98 or E85.

IEnglish is not my native language and he speaks quite fast. I thought a built 20v and 160kw? But after a few minutes I realized that he builds 20v (no T). 🤣 I drive an S3 8L with 20vt and I had a Golf 3 GTI with 16v abf. both nice engines. He does nice work 😍
