Building The Vintage Model Company Vaught Corsair Time Lapse

Hi everyone. This is a time lapse video showing my build of the Vintage Model Company Vaught Corsair.
Due to the popularity of my plane build videos on this channel I decided to create this very short version of my detailed build series of 18 videos published on my new channel 'Rob Brennan Balsa Wood Planes'.

Hey Rob - that was compulsive viewing mate, once I started I couldn't stop! Fantastic to see it coming together at high speed. But it still came across just how much work is involved in one of these builds, just so many little jobs to do, like the tricky wire-bending and making components like the wheels from flat sheets of balsa. Respect dude - great job! :))

Hi mate. I know what you mean these time lapse videos always mesmerise me and before you know it it's finished. Yes lots of little and fiddly jobs which can get a bit frustrating sometimes but it's all forgotten when you see the end result.

Absolutely amazing work Rob, and I think this time lapse video is a brilliant idea. The Corsair is one of the best looking American WW2 fighter planes they made in my humble opinion. It's been one of my favourites since I was a child. I really like the way you utilized the wallpaper for the photos at the end of the video. (We have the same wallpaper in our grandson's bedroom for their planes) Big thumbs up mate 😊👍👍✈✈

Hi Derek. Many thanks mate. Yes I've always loved the Corsair as well, well after the Spitfire that is. It's not actually wallpaper mate it's photographic backdrop that I hang from a spare boom mic stand I have.

My goodness, but it was satisfying to watch the transitionn from kit to model take place so quickly! I always hope that, when the model´s finished, we might see a flight, but I do understand that trying to do this with all your other commitments and unreliable English weather would be a nightmare : )

Hi Del. Many thanks mate. The Great British weather is an absolute nightmare especially it seems near me in Brum. But also mate being new to this hobby I'm not sure if I have them balanced right and still need to work out how to trim them to make sure they don't just fly off into the sunset lol.

@@robbrennanrc Obviously the weather is something we can´t do anything about. I used to trim mine to turn very slightly to the left - so slightly that you´d hardly see the effect from a test glide. Then I´d wind the motor just enough for a "powered glide" to check for any tendency to roll or stall or nosedive, after which I´d increase the number of turns by 30 or 40 turns each time. There´s something ineffably graceful and...stately - about the way a free-flight rubber powered model flies when all goes well : )

Very nice looking model!! Do you shrink the paper, THEN attach, or attach them shrink? I’ve seen it both ways.

Hi Sean. Many thanks for the great comment. This one took me around 80 to 90 hours quite a bit of which is waiting time for the glue to set.

Are the parts lazer cut or do you have to cut them out with a blade?

Hi. All parts are laser cut, just a little sanding to remove the tabs.

Video needs to have warnings for people that get seizures. Nice build but really can’t tell what you doing. Could you slow it down just a bit?
