Would a switch between the esc and and bec work for turning off the lights when not needed. Thinking about trying it out.

Thanks mate. That thing with the lights saved me from the hassle. Been trying up and down with that stupid controller, I even bought another one and I was considering using a second esc for the lights only. A bec saves everything. Thanks again

Almost 2 yrs late here, but have you looked at the DG-1 Dragon by MyTrickRC? Looks like you could wire the lights up and keep the braking functionality. I'd like to swap to a Futaba receiver but don't want to lose anything with the lights... I'd also like a full functioning U4 bar for my Axial Bomber 🤣

This video is perfect I was loooking everywhere for a long time so I can install traxxas lights with after market esc. But I have a question, I can’t just solder a xt60 to all the lights and connect a 3s lipo ?

Thank you. Yes that would work too. I just didn't want to run an additional battery pack. Or if you always run 6S as 2-3S packs you can wire in the lights to only one of the connectors not both. But you couldn't change what you run, and I sometimes run 8S or a single 4S depending on what's charged.

When you run it on 6s do you think the hobbywing ESC made a big difference over the stock one? I’m debating if i should do this or just order a lipo alarm to and not use low voltage cutoff to get my full run time. I plan to still run 6s and really hate to give up the brake lights and being able to control them on the app. It’s just kind of cool. But if the performance gain is big enough even still running 6s then I could see it being worth it. Also if you do respond to this could you like my comment? So its not going to go much faster top speed but it will accelerate harder since you can tune the punch level and other items. But the best benefit is with this ESC you can regear it to be a lot faster then you will have a higher top speed and it will still accelerate hard because you can adjust the punch without overheating like the stock one would with the same gearing. So a lot of people will change just the esc and be mad because top speed is the same but when you change the gearing too that's when you get the benefit. I didn't change the gearing only because I occasionally run 8s and the motor would overheat fast if it was geared up. It's still overheats the motor on 8s if I run a full pack I run it for 5 min for fun then let it cool.

And if you never plan on running 8s you could get the max8 and it would be the same but thats 6s max

Good video What if you removed the plug from the unit and instead twisted the two black cables together, one of the red cables individually and the other twisted with another other than + 5v and together in a Graupner plug on a 7.4v receiver?

Thank you I'm not sure if that would work I'm sure there are other ways to connect these lights this is just how I thought of doing it.
