Building Vader's TIE Fighter out of cardboard [full build time-lapse]

Watch Bodoc building Darth Vader's ship out of recycled cardboard during 5 months (the TIE advanced X1, scale 1/2).
Using discarded shipping boxes, you will see the fighter being built, from wing to cockpit to assembly.
This project has been presented to three events in France so far (so yes, it's coming of the workshop alright 😉).

Amazing job guys. My grandpa use to make everything out of cardboard. He made a dresser, chest, and most of their furniture. Super strong also, it finally started going bad after 30 years. When you are poor you have to be creative. He glued cereal boxes together, so multilayered cardboard. Was strong as wood time he got done with it.

If you wonder where the smiley face came from, now you know. He use to be a Bartender in Cincinnati, OH and made these robots small also with a smiley face on them as a tip jar. This was back around WW2. Not sure if it will let me post a Imgur pic on here. I will post again with it and see if you get it.

This is beyond phenomenal! An amazing artistic wonder! The effort and attention to detail are truly stuning! The time and craftmenship are something to be amazed! Disney and Lucasfilm should give this man an award and the installation should find a permanent display! The medium used is astounding and the craftmenship is without question an artistic marvel! As a kid in the late 70s and early 80s I was an only child and quickly figured out that if i could not find or buy the ships I saw on Star Wars I figured out how to make them from cardboard, Elmers glue and spray paint. I made snow speeders, ATAT Walkers and the Falcon. People thought my mom bought them all but explained that I had a neck for tech, science and art. My hats off to you for such excellent work! I worked in Hollywood for 16 years and this rivals the prop shops there! Great job!

Thanks! Great catch 😉 I disassemble it in roughly 6 or 7 big parts (the wing, the cockpit etc). Each part goes into a dedicated box made of wood and cardboard. And then off I go to the next exhibition 💥

For someone who has clearly spent an impressive amount of time studying this ship, I'm surprised that the title is Tie "fighter" instead of "advanced" :) Absolutely amazing build! Given that it looks like it was mostly hot glue, was there any ambient temp issues? The idea of doing a hot glue build would freak me out as who knows if it would stay together once summer rolls around!

@@bodocspaceTIE Advanced x1 prototype starfighter. The production model seen in the TIE Fighter game from the 90s featured 4 wingtip guns on dagger-like wings as well as missile tubes. Vader’s x1 supposedly fired missiles as well but I sure can’t find any ports that would indicate they could fire ordnance.
