I just hit $100,000 net worth this last quarter from saving and i plan to invest in the stock market to see it grow in the next 3 years. What is the best way to navigate the stock market as a newbie?

I believe a healthy portfolio has 3 things, at the bare minimum: Exposure to ETFs for increased diversification, Exposure to assets that generate cash flow like dividend stocks, Exposure to market-leading tech.

Consider allocating 30-40% to a High-Yield Savings Account (HYSA) and entrusting the rest to a financial advisor for investment. My advisor has significantly impacted my financial journey, fostering clarity and confidence in the stock market. Thanks to her guidance, I've grown my portfolio from $100k to $1.4m in just 5 years.

I am happy to see that Singaporeans are getting better financial advice than they did about 25 years ago, when people were pushing insurance as an investment and high cost proprietary investment products! Yay ETFs and term insurance. Good work CNA!

Very true that the starting point of whether to have children should not be financials but whether it completes your life. We just need to adjust along the way.

I attended financial coaching online and I remembered the financial coach say that it will take quite a lot of money to educate one kid However the importance is to invest as much as one can based on one’s income - there is no need to compare and to invest based on what your kid can do as well as the kid is interested however do not overstretch your finance abilities

Christopher's advice is very sound but extremely conservative esp with the CPF top up.

Yes it is very good for those who are more risk averse. I went the opposite way however, investing in Unit Trusts first when I was in my early 20s, before going into EFTs in my 30s (partly because ETFs only really became more prominent at that time). Bonds came into the picture only now in my 40s, although I also started buying shares. In other words, my risk appetite is actually bigger when I was younger, because I had few financial commitments (single, with no home or car), so I was willing to risk it all. I ended up reaping the benefits in my 30s because I was able to put more money into my home's downpayment and take up a smaller loan. As I get older, I become more cautious, hence the bonds comes in, but I also get more savvy, hence I now dare to invest in shares. I like the diversity of risks in my portfolio. Of course my path may be less suitable for those who plan to marry and buy flat/car in their 20s and cannot stomach that kind of risk. Christopher's advice may be more suitable then, particularly the part about buying bonds, ETFs and putting money into your CPF (which I never did).

The last thing when comes to investing or trading is to listen to anyone because why in the world would someone in sound mind give you their golden strategy to you ? Thats why when i hear the streets are talking about invest into something, i do the opposite of that. My odds of return just skyrocket
@firefly4326
@firefly4326 Ай бұрын
Wrong. Because a golden strategy works only if it has backing and size in it. Without the support, the golden strategy might not be able to capture the current market. Only selfish people like you think you have the most workable strategy, and investment nor trading works like that. Because no one in the world can predict the markets. Only market makers can influence the trend. You go contrarian tactics you think u are smart but u are just having lucky shot. Bodoh

Though this video is not on birth rate. But I think someone just told u the obvious hard truth that no one want to talk about or see. Giving birth do not bring u any ROI. Back then the older generation, give birth to a lot is becos there are still transiting from a farming society to the modern society. Hence, ppl back then still have the idea that kids are good ROI becos they need manpower. But today even the cleaner are well educated enough to understand that giving birth is a burden and it doesn't give any Return of Invest. Don't even try to explore the idea that making your kids as your retirement backup. You kids will hate you once they realise that they are just your retirement tools.
