For some things like that is plenty strong enough not to weld the inside. Welding the inside would be a proper pain in the arse to grind and file back go be nice and clean. Not impossible just a pain and unnecessary

I use meths. Ipa would be good or acetone works the best

Hello Max, that depends on two things. 1. What welder you have 2. The thickness of steel It's not really something I can explain over the internet. There might be a video on it
