Honestly the Sims has been lacking so much in transparency and info like this, I feel like 80% of the negative feedback they get could be remedied by proper communication about these kinds of things.

This is cool to find out how the build requirements are for the packs. I'm glad they used popular builders to highlight the difference between pack building and fun building. Would you do it again if asked to?

If anything this just proves that the build requirements are nowhere nearly as stringent as the SimGurus hinted at them being, and that you can easily build decent houses without straying from those constraints instead of making the abominations that they shipped with some of the previous packs like Get Famous or Realm of Magic.

@@dependsonwhosasking I'm not an authority on this subject because I didn't keep up with the build discussion and what gurus said their requirements were. I do agree that these builds seem more lively and creative than the ones usually shipped with the packs though. However, these are also not as full and lively as I'm used to from james and deli (those are the only two I watch somewhat consistently).

I really don't get why there aren't futons in this pack.. I mean the bedrooms look like normal western bedrooms not really Japanese :( And the animations was already there I think because of the sleeping bags

We don’t have sleeping bags though? Outdoor retreat came with camp cots and inflatable beds that are basically just regular beds in order to not create a new animation. I agree for cultural realism, it would have been nice to get a Japanese futon mattress without a bed frame that could be folded away but because of all the sport activities and new animations there, I think the decision was they couldn’t justify the animation budget for creating a new “bed” animation when western beds are a thing in Japan as well. It’s a shame.

That would have been great! Especially if they'd take up less space than a regular bed... Even better if they'd put them away in the morning but that would be too much to ask for. But I'll look for some nice CC ones :)

@@MewDenise No one said that. Not all Japanese homes have a kotatsu either, but the Sims team included them. They focused on more traditional items, so a futon would make sense. To be fair, sliding doors would also have been cool and traditional and are not included. They can't include everything 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love this build Deli, you did such a good job! I was told when I visited Japan and stayed in a traditional guesthouse that tatami mats can be quite fragile and expensive to replace, therefore you're not supposed to put heavy furniture on top of it (like sofas/beds etc). In the room where I stayed there was only floors cushions, a low coffee table and the futons at night on top of it :)

I really love this build, however, there's one thing I find quite unrealistic. The way the bathroom is split levelled is the opposite way it should be in real life. Usually you would put the shower lower, so the water doesn't go everywhere and stays in that lower part. Especially if the shower is totally open :D But I'd totally stay in your house, it's perfect

I like the house but in Japan they don't really renovate older houses or add extensions. Usually they tear them down to build new houses or refurbish them to look like they originally did. That's at least what I noticed when I lived there. Interesting take on the house though good job Deli!

Yea Rachel and jun just bought some land in Japan they are going to tear down the house that was there, they said it’s because the earthquake regulations change over the years if you tear down you have to follow the new regulations, same thing for retaining walls having to be torn down when you rebuild have to be replaced with concrete ones

It's so weird from an outsider's perspective that Japanese homes actually devalue over time, but considering how much the renovation of a retaining wall might cost one can only imagine the costs to update a family home to up to date regulations... One thing I can't stop thinking about now whenever I see a bathroom in the new pack is why we don't have a bathroom cube with the pack xD (Obviously if Rachel hadn't realised they came as premade rooms we can't expect that from the Sims team, but I can't stop thinking about that now!)

@@InBloodChains People who have vision impairments. All computers come with a high contrast accessibility mode that may wash those objects out into the backgrounds entirely. Edited to add for @sketchur, while that could have been an oversight due to the terrain being designed by a different team or maybe just not noticed, it's also possible that while the house and terrain were similarly light, the color tone could have made a noticeable change between them in high contrast mode.

I heard that they changed the terrain on James' build to make the house blend in with the terrain because that's a modern japanese aesthetic. To have a zen house that blends with the terrain.

You did absolutly great on this. And for the bath tub, in Japanese homes you would often find the bath tub in a seperate part of the house. So there would be, other than our bathrooms, no sinks or the Toilette but a small shower. In Japanese culture water means life and the bathing tradition is really big. I really love that build. ❤️

Hello Deli! A suggestion for the Sims 4 creators is to make in-content homes, buildings, etc simple so that all computers can operate properly; but then to also create a special edition content (same buildings but with more detailed content items) for higher end computer users to down load. Just a thought. Great job with the new expansion pack! Congrats to you and James!!

When I went to Hawaii last year, our Airbnb on the Big Island had a lot of Asian style decor. The toilet looked like the new one in the game, and there was a room that looked like formal dining with tatami mats. There were also louvered glass windows but I think that was a Hawaii thing (it would not be practical outside the tropics!)

My husband is from Bulgaria. His dad built their house so the toilet room is separate from the bathing room. I love it, actually. So you're not in someone's way when you're showering. Also, his toilet room has a sink for hand washing in it.

Y’all should watch over the moon! It’s just like this town and it shows some cultural elements in case you want to be educated a little bit. It’s also a really cute movie. It has the tower, the train, and similar clothes so it’s a really cool movie that helped me know what to do with my sims when I get this pack.

Lol deli explaining minimalism because of a sims game and not knowing it. If you don't understand I'll explain. Minimalism in comparison to this game: our houses become simple because our brains are like the game processor if there is too much clutter then we don't run as well because our stress levels and brain function have too much to focus on and it becomes a strain that may or may not be noticed by the person in the clutter. (Depends on how much it slows us down lol)
