Try thinking about using a belt and pulley system. An older guy on KZbin made one powered by a 200cc lawn engine with a belt system. Thing hauled around on the grass and road, it even had a reverse belt once applied spun it backwards. His designs are on the internet free to use with all the required steel and wood.
