Hi. My name is Jeanine Jones. I just wanted to write to let you know that I loved this video. It was just the kind of information I needed. I’m a retired Clinical Social Worker who is writing her first book. I have a blog that I began in 2015 but was unable to create consistently for due to work and health reasons. The blog is still operational but I haven’t posted in a couple of years. Do you think that I could use that blog to begin developing my author platform and brand? The content of the book and blog are both about mental health for those people who are stressed and for mental health professionals to help their clients. Thank you so much this is very timely information for me as I finish up the last quarter of draft number one! I have a question about collaborators: if I want to collaborate with someone and my audience is a lot smaller than theirs, what other things might I be able to offer to that collaborator that are of value?

My suggestion is to find a way to build a relationship with them. The best is to do it in person - so if they are going to an event. Second best is to just be present online on everything they do and find out what is important to them. It takes leg work but you may uncover something you can help them with because you have a skill or a connection. I'm doing a live with Dale Roberts on Tuesday to talk about networking for authors - that will be a good one to watch too!
