DIY Floating Wine Rack | Build It Better | EP. 03

On this episode, I build a DIY floating wine rack out of a cedar 2x4! It can be hung anywhere with the use of 2 hollow wall anchors and has a modern twist to the design as a free-floater! This design can also be modified to add as many additional 2x4's as you please!

Simple yet very modern and elegant. Suggestion though. You have end grain to end grain glued up at a 45. That is a very very weak joint. End grain soaks up wood glue like a vacuum and a 45 degree angle obviously isn’t very strong. My suggestion would be to use L brackets on the inside corners of the face grain. This will make that joint much stronger and durable than a smaller L bracket on the edge grain that is only reinforcing one end. Great job though keep it up!

Stupid question. How did you drill out the holes for the bottle necks? I'm a new wood worker. This is my second project. First with using the saw bits. I'm using the impact driver and the power drill, switching back n forth on my construction lumber (its scrap wood to practice with) why is this taking so long.. why do my tool smell like I am burning them up and why is it not cutting through...? What am I doing wrong. Please help!!!!!!
