It's like seeing a part of my soul set free from my body to represent the best of me out in the world and say, "hey look, society might be set up for a different type of people, but it's beautiful to be us too, and though they might find it strange, so long as we reach for the light we are our best when we are ourselves."

She is a bit of an angel, isn't she? And yet, she also wrote in Giving In To The Love..... "I want to live my life, be all of its pages, and underline that I am not an angel." I think that lyric was kind of playing off the idea that so many people call her "pure" or "an angel" or that we "must protect her at all costs" etc. I think that lyric is her saying.....I'm just a human being, and I'm not ONLY some pure angelic faerie nordic nymph sprite....I'm also a complex, sometimes dark, sometimes obscene, human being. I'm all of it. At least that's the feeling I get from that lyric. But.....you're not wrong either. lol. She's both. Aurora contains multitudes....she is legion! ;)

@@laetitiapohl138 lol....Well said. I didn't mean to call you out or anything. Hope it didn't seem like that. I certainly get why people call her things like that....because she IS a very very impressive human. The only thing I still find legit creepy....is when her fans say we must "protect her at all costs." Often older men saying it too. I get that the intention is good.....but, it takes agency away from her, and makes her out to be some fragile delicate being that mustn't be corrupted by the big bad scary world. But whatever, I know people mean well.... ;P

I've always found it a bit amusing/endearing how she so often refers to her songs as "sad" and "dark." To me....they sound FULL of life-affirming catharsis and creative exuberant wonder and deep genuine joy. But......that's actually BECAUSE the songs, both lyrically and musically, IS often a bit sad or dark. LIFE is often sad and dark...especially for someone like me(and you?) and it's so refreshing how candidly and willingly she allows herself to feel those emotions herself, without immediately feeling the need to cover them up or pretend them away. That willingness to go to the dark places....is ironically, very hopeful and affirming for me. Also....dark sad scary music just _sounds_ more cool lol. Songs and artists that are always 100% positive.....depress me. It's almost a form of pathological dishonesty and a dismissal of reality. Like the shallow platitudes you see written on the bottom of those inspirational posters. Crap like "Cheer up! Turn that frown upside down! Tomorrow is another day!" Gee....thanks, but I haven't been able to sleep well the past week because for no reason in particular I became overwhelmed by the existential dread of realizing one day I will grow old, get sick, and die. And that day could come tomorrow....or in 70 years. But thanks for telling me to "turn that frown upside down." I'll get right on that.... * eye roll * Whereas a song like The River....with a line like "You can cry...drinking your eyes. Do you miss the sadness when it's gone?" THAT is honest. It's not some super happy message....and that's why it makes me so happy. That song in particular embodies the feeling of finally having a profound emotional catharsis after months, or years, of feeling dead inside. Finally allowing yourself to just feel....and embracing the tears that follow. Anyway....I'm rambling. But if you're reading this, and are a fan of hers, needless to say....you know precisely what I'm talking about. ;)

She's said several times that she's "very very introverted" while also being "quite outgoing." It's an interesting realm to occupy. Not many people are both of those things. She's clearly a hardcore introvert who derives meaning and energy by being alone....and loves being alone. But, she's not shy....she's not afraid to be her fully introverted self.....around other people. It's a cool balancing act she pulls off perfectly.

Ya know, Queendom to me is not this direct 'feminist' ordeal. I see it a bit more, metaphysical; Queendom as reigning feminine energy. Too much of our world is projected and drowning in too much masculinity, too much ego. The world needs a balance and I do feel feminine energy, the seed of nurturing is less than balanced. So why not think of Queendom as an uprising of the feminine energy? There's nothing wrong to think this.

I have always ment that Aurora fans should REALLY listen to/view the comedy of Bo Burnham and Bo Burnham fans should REALLY listen to Aurora. They are like mirror images of each other asking deeply existential questions without lecturing us about it. Aurora can ask if god even can hear us - Bo has an entire song called "God's perspective" where he points out that one does not need to read a thousand verses to understand one should not be a di*k before explaining that the love we are searching is not ever gonna come from him - the love must come from ourselves. Both of them are introverts and very deep at one level but also light and loving of life. Bo developed anxiety from performing after being hit by panic attacks and turned that into one of the finest movies of the last ten years (Eight Grade) about a teen girl with anxiety trying to figure it out in her social life and with internet screaming at her. Saying that girl looking like a 13 year old girl in the cinema is how he as a hugely successful comedian feels as a 25 year old man. Heck - Bo should discover Aurora and vice versa since Aurora has an insane natural comedian talent (too). (Bo is of course dark with his lastest netflix special about the effects of Covid - but he is also so very human - and when he ended his last stage tour with throwing his issues with "audience" straight back at the audience in the finale 5 years ago. I want to please you But I want to stay true to myself I want to give you the night out that you deserve But I want to say what I think And not care what you think about it Part of me loves you Part of me hates you Part of me needs you Part of me fears you And I don't think that I can handle this right now Handle this right now I don't think that I can handle this right now (...) Look at them, they're just staring at me Like come and watch the skinny kid With a steadily declining mental health And laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself ...I hope YOU are happy" This is a pretty hard core thing to throw at an audience - just as Aurora throw some really hard core messages at her audience coming out to having a good time - because she too knows that the audience themselves are struggling and may be comforted by some truth. Bo was literally throwing his anxiety back at the audience - saying "no I am not made of granite" and by implication saying "we all feel insecure when meeting each other - we all pretend to be cool and comfortable but nobody really are". Check out the lyrics of "All eyes on me" - placed around "6 months" into his fictional description of Covid isolated lockdown (he never say it is that - he just implies it) - the show as a whole is a masterpiece of empathy to how we all have felt - similar but different to Aurora - together as two strange kids developing a totally new perspective of what "art" can be with their unique voices.

@@glacieractivity Oh....spot on. I was actually a fan of Bo well before encountering Aurora in March of 2020. And I've become even more of a Bo fan since then....especially after "Inside." I think you're dead on about the similarity. They both have a creative exuberant almost exhibitionist side....while also both being VERY introverted and very in touch with the darker side of human emotional experience. And....they're both exceedingly intelligent to the point of being legitimately wise. So yeah....I totally concur with your assessment of their similarities. :) I am very very curious to see what Aurora might do besides music. I don't EVER want her to stop making music....but....I'd be very intrigued to see her try directing a movie or writing a book or starting a podcast. Honestly, anything she does is bound to be fascinating. I think anyone that intelligent and creative and innately awake and aware....is bound to excel at whatever they try out. Just look at Bo.....he randomly decided to make a movie, for the first time, and it turned out to be absolutely brilliant. And brilliant in a way that you often don't see....his unique voice and vision totally made that movie what it was. Just imagine Aurora applying _her_ voice and vision to something similar? She's almost 10 years younger than Bo, so she's got time.... Wow...it's weird to think that Bo is well into his 30s now. I remember when he was just a dorky little kid hunched over a piano at his parents' house while he filmed himself with a potato.

Protecting our planet and promoting minorities is like the main part? Or did i miss something? The first one stands in conflict with economy and a bit with living standard. It's understandable that music to you is for clearing your head and just enjoying it, that's great. I must however say it's a shame that personal philosophies and perspectives have grown to become synonymous with 'politics'. Music, like any form of art is an outlet for the artist. It's the way performers can express themselves. Music without any kind of opinion or attitude from the artist lacks personality and depth. That's where we get a lot of modern music from, entertainment without purpose, without indipendent, individual thought. There's nothing wrong with liking that kind of music, it can also be fun to clear your head with a catchy tune, but I personally prefer music with a message. The themes of Queendom are inclusion and giving each other strength. I do not think that this relates to 'politics', but rather to Aurora's personal worldview.

I actually got the impression that she dodged political questions and nudges from the host in that direction in quite cute and honest way. I dont percieve her as political or with a political agenda. Just promoting Love and wellbeing for all... and a meta-place for people with simmilar mindsets to hers and her art. The ecological agenda is not politics basically anymore..its an outlook on life and its upon everybody to decide for him/her -self on stance about that. Idk..what i am missing... :/

@@OutOfRangeDE It's the fact that Aurora leaves room for that interpretation, that stops her music becoming a political lecture. To some her music could be political, to others an exploration of emotion, to others tapping into the spiritual and philosophical. That is what makes her a good artist, the room she leaves for others to draw their own conclusions. I too, strongly dislike politics in music, and I would not call Aurora's music political in the slightest. Attention can be drawn to things, without that becoming a matter of politics and warring tribes, so to speak.

Azarah......it's "you're" not "your." And if you think I'm being petty by pointing that out......yeah, that's the point. Aurora isn't even remotely trans exclusionary. Not even a little. And she's spoken MANY times about that specific topic...and even this specific joke you took offense to. You could avail yourself of that info. OR you could assume the worst about someone having zero knowledge of what they actually think. 4 years ago you chose to do the latter. I hope you realize now you were wrong....? Or........you're just another conservative troll. I've noticed how lots of conservatives will pretend to be trans or generally liberal....and then say something objectively absurd, in order to try and trick people into thinking ALL trans/liberal people are absurd. Your comment sounds a LOT like conservative comments I've seen that try and do that. So....if THAT is who you are, then (a series of words youtube won't allow).

Well yeah, the last thing we need is another SJW satellite. Why can't music just remain music nowadays? Why does EVERYTHING need to be political? It's like it's impossible to escape it, they shove down all this issues down your throat no matter where you go. TV shows, films, music; EVERYWHERE.
@stolenhal0

Aurora was my escape from that. I guess not anymore though... I don't want any kind of divisiveness among fans. Just make heart felt music that helps unite everyone through universal feelings. Is that too much to ask for?

Its because people want to afford something with their music when they are enthusiastic. And come on most new songs arent political at all. Maybe the seed a bit but its more for saving the planet in any way and queendom because it empowers woman?! Its just ment in a friendly, reenergizing way. Not that she wants that woman rule the world or sth. And the name queendom itself doesnt have to do anything with it. Its just because she herself is a woman, just as she said. Not because she wants to rename kingdoms on earth to queendom.

@Zayades

I am sure she did not mean it that way. She probably just does not know about this topic and/or did not think about it. She does not seem to be a bad person and you should not "give up on humanity" just because of this one sentence she said. To me, it seems she is rather insecure the whole time. You should also take into consideration that english is not her main language, so maybe it was just the first sentence that came to her mind to explain it. ALSO: Why isn't SHE allowed to let HER genital determine what HER gender is? Not everybody feels like gender is something mysterious that happens to be female/male/whatever else and does not have anything to do with their body. As for me, I do not even see myself as two beings, one spiritual soul (that has a gender) and one material body (that has a sex) - I see myself as one. Maybe she does, too. I even think most people do. Please, don't get me wrong: I don't know how you feel, and I certainly don't judge. I just try to explain why she might have said what she said and why it is not a bad thing - even if you might feel hurt. You are not a victim of trans exclusionary as she is not an offender. Lots of love to you! Stay strong. Stay positive. Don't let anyone damage your soul!

@Zayades I agree so much with what you just said and I don't think she is attacking anyone but really talking about what makes her her. I know it seems strange and offensive to you Azarah Eden but the whole LGBTQ+ revolution is something I think that started in the US and a lot of us from outside the country especially who are not English speaking or get a lot of American culture coming in are not exposed to these things and grow up having different views on our personalities. I don't believe she said that to force gender roles on anyone but was just a reflection of what she feels she is. to add to my point even at the end she did say she didn't have a TV or radio growing up so these things and issues would not have been a part of her growing identity as a person. I think she is very sensitive to people and is still learning and growing. I believe there is no malice or prejudice in her or what she says and I am sorry that because of a lot of terrible things people say nowadays some things can be taken as an offence by people . so like Zayades said don't give up on humanity or allow yourself to be damaged by that, because for something as important as your soul, this is not worth letting damage into it.

There was obviously no malicious intent behind her words. What you're experiencing is something I can't imagine and I can imagine that it would hurt you when people mock it. But the simple fact that someone just states biologically normal facts that are not meant to come across as hurtful, is not wrong! She will accept everyone I imagine, o don't put words in her mouth or label something as offensive that is not insulting.

Azarah Eden Fuck you. Women are women. Men can’t be women just like white people cant be black. Men can’t be women. Women can’t be men. Men defined and enforced GENDER to suit their selfish needs in the first place. Women have a vagina. Men have a penis. The gender roles such as women wearing wigs and high heels were invented by capitalist patriarchy while they went dancing on the backs of the bruised... women, and enslaved their own mothers and daughters. Gender is forced construct Biology sex is reality Women have a vagina. Men have a penis.
