Sanditon was fantastic. Rose Williams is brilliant as Charlotte and Theo James is so well cast as Sidney. The screenplay was brilliant and we MUST have a season 2 because it cannot end so tragically for Charlotte and Sidney. Please get going on Season 2!

Such amazing people! I loved the riveting characters and beautiful scenery! Andrew Davies did an amazing job, but Jane Austen would never have ended her book with such a devastating ending for Sidney and Charlotte! My other favorite characters were Esther Denham and Lord Babbington. I really began to cheer for their characters. Please bring Season 2!

Jack Fox is so bright, charming, and fun that I am going to have a difficult time hating his character in the future. But I will try!

I think the ending, as much as it may have been upsetting was probably a lot more common than Austen’s usual happy endings. Austen’s one relationship was broken up because of financial considerations and was probably quite traumatic. I would imagine that the happy endings she gave her heroines may have been a direct reaction to her own personal romantic disappointment.

An unfinished Jane Austen novel turns into an unfinished series, hardly fair on viewers, or the cast. I bought the DVD of this and have really enjoyed it...until the end. I would have also bought the CD because the music was great, especially the music at the balls. There are so many unfinished lines in Sanditon, that could have been developed and turned it into one of the best ever period dramas. It is my favourite now, but it is extremely disappointing to have a big build up for Charlotte and Sidney, then nothing. Very disappointed New Zealand Sanditon fan. It hasn't been promoted here either. Sad - it's so good...until the big letdown at the end.
