I'm so tired of Dermatologists recommending antibiotics. I've suffered from adult acne for the past 10 years with no explanation despite EVERY medication possible. Thousands of dollars.

Sugar or dairy maybe the cause?

@Lady Bug Thanks for that suggestion but I don't think so. I seldom eat dairy & do not add sugar to any foods. I monitor natural sugar intake as well. I don't like chocolate or junk food. I drink mostly water. Take vitamins and exercise. I truly think it's an allergy or hormonal imbalance of some sort. I hired out our lawn service in case that was the culprit. We had air ducts cleaned and carpet replaced with wood floor. I have legit been searching for an acne cure all these years to no avail. My Derm will not prescribe Accutane as I'm in my 40's, but I think that's my last option.

im in the same boat, i know its genetic for me my siblings have it so im sure my parents had it, im 31 and still dealing with it ive tried everything, even did a course of accutane, which worked for awhile then stopped working, i ate super clean for years and that did nothing, quit dairy that didnt help, honeslty my skin cleared up for about a year when i was 23 and i have no explaination why, i actually ate junk food and did drugs that year and stopped exercising and it was the best my skin had ever been, now at 31 its suddenly come back to being bad and im so depressed, i live the healthiest life style i dont drink or smoke or eat junk food i drink 3 literes of water a day and i keep breaking out. totally crushed my will to live.... when its genetic i dont think theres anything you can do.... totally sucks

@sam taylor I actually bought this DIM supplement from Amazon and I've had a 1000% improvement! Also, I've lost 30lbs and eat absolutely 💯 NO dairy now

@@Jakilyn you may want to look at the vitamins you take as well…large doses of certain vitamins can actually trigger and worsen acne.

This is gonna probably sound dumb and as if not alot of thought went behind typing it Bc it didn't bc I'm just in my dark zone rn due to this at 30+ Literally i isolated and have been in bed over 1 year, it is about to kill my marriage and already took it's toll on time with my mom who lives an hr away, needless to say one friend left but i never see him bc i refuse to go out. But Ok so what do i do to control the hormones I beat testosterone is the driver of the oil but we need some oil id assume idk So Can i reduce testosterone somehow? If so what are the consequences and how wld i do that? Wld that even work?

Food only plays a small role? but hormones do? But hormone imbalance has a lot to do with what we eat. PCOS is caused by insulin resistance, which is directly related to our diet. Sadly, most derms are not educated about the real underlying causes of acne and only treating the symptoms using side effects loaded drugs.

Interesting perspective, thank you. (She does say that food 'has a lot to do with' the 'main reason' namely hormones. But on that basis, her answer doesn't really make sense. Lol.)

I'd also add the fact that the livestock we consume are constantly loaded with hormones! Good catch! Her answer was quite superficial.

Food plays a part but it’s not everything, your hormones can be effected by genes, sheer chance etc

Omg ok so 33 never had acne and now it is so bad I've spent over a year in my bed in a very dark place bc of this and I get these horrible weak shaking headache dizzy spells it feels like I'm sinking- insulin resistance... same as sugar dropping? Bc I feel like that- but idk what's happening Your comment made me say literally omg wait
