Kieran Culkin looks so much like his character Roman. He’s sitting oddly and his biting his nails like he’s anxious. Also the way he dresses for interviews is spot on with how he dresses for Roman. I feel like he just walked off of set almost. If it weren’t for his rings and bracelets I’d think he’d walked off of set.

I've watched a lot of BUILD Series interviews with this interviewer, and I've liked them because of his ability to be entirely unremarkable and fade into the background so his guests take the focus, but this...this was painful. I don't think it was an issue of being ill-prepared so much as being unadaptable to the cast. Once he was caught off guard, this interview never got back on track, and that happened immediately with the introduction of Hiam Abbass.

Kieran actually acknowledges his behavior of sitting in the Succession Podcast, he explains that he didn’t realized he sat oddly until the directors started to point it out. He describes it as feeling natural to him and not intentionally applying it to Roman. I think he’s the most alike to his character and it amazes me that he probably doesn’t want to flesh out his character but simply think of Roman like an extension of himself.

I don’t know, but it might have something to do with him living in Denmark, whereas I think most of the other actors live in America and specifically LA, so it’s easier to gather them for an interview. Also, Jeremy Strong seems to be quite “Daniel Day-Lewis”-like in his approach to acting. In interviews he seems very philosophical about it and goes all in on his characters. My guess is he (like DDL) needs to live his own life fully, when he’s not acting, and then just have written in his contract to do very little Press.

He didn't know which of Jesse Armstrongs earlier work to compare succession to? He didn't know the title of the Turkey movie? He didn't know if Tom's line was a spoiler? He didn't know Conner's ranch is in the dessert in New Mexico? This cast deserved so much more care. This guy was asking them such superficial questions and it's a waste. He was treating the interview as just a job, rather than an exciting opportunity to pick the casts' minds.

This interviewer… where do I begin… He goes in not knowing how to pronounce the name of one of his guests. The first few questions are long winded and pretentious; he uses them just to show that he knows things, but he’s wrong and the interviewee is like “what?”. He’s like a kid who didn’t do the reading but insists on answering questions in class. When he runs out of pretentious questions, he asks dumb, generic questions; “do you bring yourself to a role?”, and when he runs out of his own generic questions, he lets others ask questions, but it turns out they were gonna ask a generic question that was already asked, so instead of yielding his question to somebody else, he asks another dumb question. Is anybody in charge here? Like, you’ve got 6 famous actors coming to do your show, and you don’t have a host that is prepared? You just put out some chairs and turn on the camera? What a waste of time.
