Another way to direct measure the length of a hip rafter is to tack a block of timber the same height as one's H.A.P on the corner of the wall plate. Measure from the intersection of the two king commons and the ridge to the top edge of that block. That's the length of your hip less your overhang for fascia and soffit, 👍 🔨 🇮🇪

The plumb cut for the Hip? No, it is different to the common rafter.
