Looks like a fun hobby to get into. Maybe one of these days I'll give it a shot. But for now, I'll let Kevin have the honors. Can't wait to get my rod from him!
@AutomagicFishingАй бұрын
Yeah, he is so well practiced that he cares about making it look perfect. As long as I get coverage with the epoxy, I basically said “ well it’s gonna fish” lol

Very generous of him to let you come in and not only build a rod but let you film his process, thanks for sharing this video and nice job on the build!

I agree. It was a special occasion I felt. I really appreciate being able to listen and learn from him.

Yes, I definitely have a new respect for him and his Rob building business. There’s so much work that goes into it and the time and attention he pays on the rod. Definitely makes a big difference.

Thats so awesome Brian! I gotta say id love to make a rod one day, on of a kind build. Id like to make one with a handle that is smoked/epoxied. Similair to woodburning art.
@AutomagicFishingАй бұрын
It sounds interesting, I don’t really know exactly what you’re saying, but I liked looking at different woodburning

It’s a bucket list thing. Old rods catch fish too!! It’s definitely going to stay with me as a very special rod since it’s the first one I made!!

Brian, does Kevin offer a class on building rods. What rod blank did you use to build your rod. Kevin is a master on rod building. Great episode. Can Kevin put any name on the rod. You look so intense building your rod, Brian👏👏👏

Jeff, you’ll have to ask Kevin on that one I’m not sure

Well what blank is it? I've been working toward replacing all my store bought rods. Over halfway there.
@AutomagicFishingАй бұрын
I don’t know exactly what blank it is. I just told Kevin to order one that is very sensitive and light and good one. 9’0” 8-12lb

I really just had to try it!! If I ever want anything custom I’ve got a guy!!
@ohnojoe5088Ай бұрын
Hmm, how much more cost effective is it to build rods? Or is it mostly about making something custom?
@AutomagicFishingАй бұрын
That’s a great question. I really don’t know exactly but it definitely is not cheap to have something custom.
