When using fiberglass, bondo or fiber reinforced resin, use plastic wrap or even saran wrap while it is still wet. Stretch it over the surface and pull it tight and smooth it out, remove when partially set up. It will give you a lot better of an end result with heaps less sanding.

Honestly man, I’d tape off the trim/glass/badges on the cab, slap on a couple different grits on the DA, hit the cab and roof and rough it up enough for primer to stick just fine, give it a quick wet sand, and spray everything, including your mirror caps and fuel door, and lastly just hit it with that same blueish single stage. That way you don’t ever have to worry about damage or if it gets scratch it up. Would be perfect imo 🤌🏼 Or you could always paint the entire truck in some dessert khaki, or some muted army green rhino-liner 🤷🏻‍♂️ or just wrap it haha full rhino-liner paint would be sick af though. Only finish in the world that you can wash scratches out of 😂

It looks like just a mixing issue. Whoever made that batch definitely added too many grams of blue. And as for the leopard print and streaking that comes down to how fast you're making your pass distance from the panel being consistent and making sure you have the proper tip size. Love the videos, keep up the killer work and always follow your dreams. You're killing it bro.

Spray that cab in the same blue. Just do a few panels at a time since it is your daily driver. Keep it manageable

not bad for first time spraying metallic let me give you a little bit of advice hang all the panels in the direction they're going to be facing when they're on the truck metallics have to be sprayed in whatever direction the panel is going to be bolted onto the vehicle from what I understand/ have heard... but I can't hurt to double check the internet and make sure my tip is correct 😂 lol

Is it possible that someone else did a full repaint of the truck before you got it and that's why your paint code didn't match the colour on the rest of the truck? Paint the rest of it the same way - the new colour looks good. :)

So when spraying metalics you wanna spray them in the position they fit on the vehicle so the flakes lay down in the same orientation. It shouldn't be that dramtic of a difference but will effect the color.

@@darrenswails Fiberglass is way better than steel , it doesn't rust or dent and it's easier to fix if it gets damaged . Most older trucks are more bondo than steel for that reason .

@@darrenswails I have a gen 4 Camaro with Fiberglass doors and fenders . I had a truck back into my fender and it never even cracked it . It made a section of clear coat come off and bent the bracket behind . That same hit would have destroyed a steel fender , same thing with my doors . Fiberglass doesn't dent like steel and it takes way more to break it than to make huge dents in steel or aluminum . Cheap Fiberglass body kits have give it a bad rep . And that makes about as much sense as blaming Ford because Kia's are shit , just because they both build cars .
