The past saturday we focused on the ninjato in our workshop. I did my best to put everything together I learned over the past few years from my teacher, seminars and Japan. I have a shinobigatana with extra long saya longer than the blade , but it is not hollow inside to put the metsubushi. How can I put the powder inside the saya if it is not hollow in the end of the saya?

The so called "ninja-to" never exist or be used by the shinobi no mono, was created in 1900 or in the last 1800 only like as a fun or pop item; the shinobi no mono if need used a sword, carry a regular katana or a wakizashi or tanto...

whilst it is true they would usually carry a katana or wakizashi. The modern idea of a "ninjato" isn't very historically viable, eg the straight short sword with square tsuba. But if you look back at history samurai swords were VERY customised depending on era, intended use, wielder etc. For example, the kodachi is an example of a sword similar in proportions to a shinobigatana or ninjato, now the idea that all ninja used this isnt accurate, but its plausible that using a regular length tsuka with a shorter blade has many benefits such as a faster draw, better for close quarters and use indoors. Many samurai historically would request their swords to be based on their personal height, their sword style/ style of the swordsmith, and whether or not the sword was intended for the battlefield, personal defence and such. In summary swords like this existing are 100% plausible because we have existing swords like this, but you are correct that the modern hollywood concepts about the "ninjato" arent historically accurate.
