For reference if Bukayo Saka gets 30 more G/A in the next 11 months he becomes the player with the most G/A in the Premier League before the age of 24 ahead of Ronaldo. I think we as Arsenal fans underrate Saka massively because he's so consistent. Palmer can score 4 goals in one half but where was he yesterday? Saka's ability to be dangerous against a deep block AND on the transition makes him special. Players like Palmer can't do that and that's what frustrates me with this fanbase. Saka's on course to absolutely demolish the Premier League assist record this season, he won't do it but he's on course for it. He goes to the World Cup and was the best player for England and the best player on the pitch in a team with Mbappe, Kane, Foden, Greizmann and Bellingham. He then plays in the Champions League and scores 7 minutes into his debut and breaks so many records in the competition, he also had the same amount of G/A as Mbappe in the competition playing 3 games less. I will stand by this, Bukayo Saka will one day become Arsenal's greatest ever player. Reasons: 1. Goals (I think there's a good chance he breaks Henry's goal record) 2. Legacy (very likely to win multiple major trophies and if he wins just won Champions League that would be enough for a debate) 3. Longevity (even when he loses his pace he could still play central, either as a false 9 or an 8 which could take his Arsenal career into his mid 30's) 4. Captaincy (I think it's kind of obvious that one day when Ødegaard leaves Saka will be captain and leading Arsenal to glory on top of everything else I've just would clear the debate entirely)

I don't like calling Saka a winger or this or that. He is an intelligent footballer who can be given any role on the pitch, and he will be productive. He is that good really. And he takes his roles superbly and maturely. A dream player for any team. He varies his approach and tempo with the ball so many times in a game, you can't guess what the next move is. People call him predictable, but I see far from it. The only predictable aspect about his game is the results he gets at the end of a match. He will make an impact, that's predictable.

7:10 It's actually interesting, cause when Ødegaard was injured I predicted Rice to take the armband. He's older and more experienced, he was extremely consistent last season (more so than Saka), he was captain at West Ham where he won a European trophy and is already a leader on the pitch. But yea, Saka has looked impeccable as captain.
@minnumseerrund
@minnumseerrund 4 күн бұрын
just to reiterate, I'm not surprised to see Saka doing well as captain, I just expected a more senior player to take the armband. Could have been Rice, could have been Gabriel, could have been Trossard. Heck, could even be Jorginho but obviously he isnt playing every game.
@FlickyFlaj
@FlickyFlaj 3 күн бұрын
The club seems to be purposely keeping the armbands away from Rice. I assume because there was some media talk when he joined about taking it from Ode. Last season we had a couple of games (Sheffield and Burnley maybe) where we subbed the captain 2-3 times and it went to Saka, Gabby, Jesus and Jorgi but never to Rice.
@minnumseerrund
@minnumseerrund 3 күн бұрын
@@FlickyFlaj eh, not giving Rice the armband in his very first season when he's already under extreme pressure to perform due to his transfer fee isnt that surprising. But ya, if I were to guess I would say he's 3rd or 4th right now, perhaps tied with Gabriel.

Jesus came to Arsenal as No1 striker. He was brilliant until the knee injury. After which he rushed back and has since suffered big injury issues. Every time he got back fit and played a couple of games he got injured again. Then he finally gets (seemingly) fully fit only to have lost his No1 status and thus hasn't had the chance to gain confidence or match sharpness. I believe Arteta prioritised getting minutes into Jesus' legs and to try to give him some confidence over giving Nwaneri another start or even more minutes. We will need Jesus this season and Nwaneri has already shown he is ready.

I think the home/away performance thing isn't only about this season but also the second half of last season. We were winning games at both but seemed more ambitious away from home. I originally put it down to the home sides feeling they had to perform in front of their fans and showing us more space. What I now think it may be down to is less fan pressure when playing away. Unless we get a comfortable lead at home we never seem quite as settled as we do when we're away.

I'm not sure what the big deal is about Jesus starting. As a senior player on a huge wage, he needs to regain his form and contribute at least somewhat this season. And while it's true that Arteta prioritises seniority, you can't say that's the case here. The Southampton at home is a game the rotation team should be able to win. On the other hand, playing Holding when we had Kiwior in the middle of the title race is a case of prioritising seniority. And Alex said that the decision was wrong, but I don't think Arteta will think so, because we won, first and foremost, in the end, in a good way, and we were able to give minutes to the squad players and test them.

The difference between martinelli and jesus being out of form for me is.. wev'e seen martinelli offer us 15 goals and be deadly in attack. we have not seen that from jesus 9 goals is not really a great offering for a striker. We always used to say but it what he offers in bulild up and now Kai offers more and weve have just simply outgrown him now i'm afraid.. i think he knows this aswell which is making him selfish in attack which is the worst thing

not to be a party-pooper, but Saka has had bad spells over the last two years. Not that I blame him, he played basically every single minute of every game for both Arsenal and England. We NEED to watch his fitness, he works so hard AND he is kicked 50 times every single match. Just remember how different he looked after the winter break last season, he was absolutely invigorated. That first half alone Jesus creates three big chances , two for Havertz and one for sterling. You guys are biased. Havertz was wasteful but yet we criticise Jesus. Jesus didn't get a single chance to score. Not one. He did his best to facilitate but that doesn't seem to matter as long as he doesn't score we don't see him. He did give the ball away and was very creative. Watch the games bros the analysis needs to be fact based.
@FlickyFlaj
@FlickyFlaj 3 күн бұрын
One thing you can't say about these guys is they lack fact based analysis. It's their main USP. Not saying they don't get things wrong but that's a big reach. I might ask the question: why is our main striker on £250k a week not getting himself a chance against Southampton? Jesus has never been particularly prolific but we all loved him for his build up, decisions, bursts of pace, dribbling, close control, chaos creation and pressing. He just isn't that same player as he was and certainly wasn't against Southampton and cannot really remember a match he was barring CL group stage last season (PSV and Lyon at home) I hope they/ we/ I turn out to be wrong and he is quality again but I have serious doubts.
@diehardgunner4844
@diehardgunner4844 3 күн бұрын
@@FlickyFlaj the main reason is because our midfield was not very good. Rice is not doing his job as a left attacking midfielder. And the other reason is that he is busy creating chances for sterling and Kai. Believe it or not Arsenal struggles to create chances especially without Odegaard. The 442 requires one of the two forwards to drop into midfield and create. That is what Jesus did in that first half. He was sharp and decisive with the ball and if we had more clinical finishers we would have been 2-3 goals up and halftime. But because sterling and more so Kai squandered those chances we have nothing to show for it.
