This was emotional for the Seekers as it was the farewell. Judith wanted to take part, she was not well. All their voices blended.

OK Aussies, I'm an American and I would like to start a WORLD WIDE vote to make this your national anthem. I absolutely love this song as it brings a tear and joy to me. I feel like I could be an Aussie as well. I'm sure God listens to Judith sing every day with that angelic voice.

So happy to watch you experrience this special song of and by Australia. We love it Down Under and most people feel more emotionally close to the message in this song than our own national anthem. Thank you for your beautiful reaction and showing how it made you feel in your heart. Love from Sydney AUS!

Great reaction! A great Australian folk band who had international success but never lost their roots. This was their last performance after decades of hard work and a very long list of great songs. Judith was not well here, but she gave it her all. She passed away recently so this is now even more special. I have said it before, but I am yet to see a reactor who doesn't join in by the end. You did not disappoint! 😍

You will love the song "I Still Call Australia Home." The Qantas Children's choir version is amazing. The song was written by my cousin, Peter Allen. He wrote it somewhere in the World, jetting between stage performances. It is very heartfelt. Australians do some great patriotic songs.

Trivial fact: the Sydney harbour Bridge is about half a metre out of alignment It had to "fall together" and was at it's weakest at that point (so we bolted it crooked). We literally built a bridge crooked just because we were "over it" and didn't want it falling in the river, it was a dream that 99% of Australians probably shared so it was achieved (it's still used and I believe it's still crooked 100 years on)

Whose father Red Kelly was a political activist in Ireland at a time when the Irish had no righttls in their own country. The reference to Ned Kelly evokes the notion of coming to Australia to found a country where everyone has freedom and human rights. We're getting there.
@7ismersenne
@7ismersenne Жыл бұрын
@@lmac6388 Yes, I agree. Ned Kelly means a lot more to Australian culture and history than his being a bushranger. He is a symbol of resistance to oppression and discrimination. His Jerilderie letter sets it all out in some detail. It's well worth reading.

so right so emotional haven't cried so much in so long. as a kiwi its the best anthem down under. 🥹 as a kiwi I cry every time. its so much better than our national anthem. certainly better than that maori crap we have to listen to. better than 'god save the queen' lol. this should be aussies national anthem.

Unity is important, the problems arise when people place too many conditions on it and exclude those who can't abide by them. For some people the wounds of generations are too deep and still too fresh to consider unity. Other people have never been offered a hand that wasn't a closed fist. For a lot of people unity means others being silent about the problems they face. This song is an aspiration, but it isn't our reality unfortunately.
