Good morning! So.... everyone has theyre own "compost " might you tell me your cocktail please. I see alot of twigs and leaves. Is there something else you tend to use? Thanks again always love the videos! Definitely some of my favorites
@ianyoung40149 ай бұрын
Hello Linda thanks for your comments. I follow a natural process so everything in the garden is recycled into 'compost' . Wood cuttings, hedge trimmings etc are shredded and depending on the time of year either placed in a compost heap or piled on the bed to be spread out as a mulch. Similarly the autumn leaf fall is also returned to the soil.

I enjoyed seeing your garden and all the bulbs. But was getting a little dizzy with the speed of the video 😂 and would have liked a closer view of some of them
@ianyoung401410 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and I accept your criticism. Speed of movement is exaggerated by the video I will make more effort to try and slow down.

You have such an amazing garden. I'm very jealous of your beautiful collection of spring bulbs. You are extremely knowledgeable so I need to ask, do you know what the smallest daffodil species or cultivar is? Google keeps telling me it's tete a tete but I think that might be false. I want to find a very small daffodil species with grass-like leaves that can grow naturalised in a lawn. Any knowledge you could share would be incredibly helpful!
@ianyoung401410 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching and your kind comments. The best small species for grass is Narcissus bulbocodium which best matches your request.

You have a beautiful garden! I don't suppose you know what the Hepatica is called? Like a species or cultivar name?
@ianyoung401410 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching they are all unnamed seedlings from Hepatica nobilis.

Do you mulch or use any fertilizer? 😊
@ianyoung401410 ай бұрын
Very rarely if a plant looks hungry I give it some fertiliser. We mostly rely on nature's mulch of leaf fall and mulches of our own garden compost .

What is the ph of your soil? I tried to grow some of your flowers but it doesn’t thrive due to my 7.2 ph soil😢
@ianyoung401410 ай бұрын
Our ph is 5 to 5.5 but many of these plants are not to fussy about ph.

Can you please recommend some unusual bulbs (exclude hyacinths , tulips, daffodils) that I can plant.
