I love how Octavia's song connects to Stolas' lullaby "You will be OK". It shows how in her eyes, he broke their promise and left her behind. Some people may not like her actions, but I can sympathy with her. I don't think she was ever close with her mother and now that Stolas his gone, she feels left alone and doesn't know how to feel about the situation.

He's also the same man who cheated on her mother with an Imp, which destroyed the stable home she had from her perspective . He's also the same man who flirted with said Imp with dirty talk on the phone WHILE SHE WAS IN THE ROOM, then took said Imp with them to the theme park she blatantly said she didn't want to go to while also ignoring her by flirting with him the entire time. He also broke her promise that he made WHEN SHE WAS A CHILD to go see a meteor shower because he was too busy arguing with Stella over the phone. And, his worst offense, SACRIFICING HIMSELF for Blitz despite promising that he would never abandon her for him. I love Stolas, but he HAS NOT been a good father to Octavia.

While not entirely the same my Grandma walked out when I was a kid because she and my dad had a fight over money. When I turned 18, Grandma had breast cancer. My dad gave my number and email to my Aunt to give Grandma since I was an adult and he wanted to let her possibly say goodbye to her grandkid. She never called or emailed. And that devastated me more than the initial abandonment because I always thought the anger was towards my dad. I never heard from Grandma again. She survived breast cancer but never contacted me in the 18 years since the fight. So I am actually kind of frustrated with Via as Stolas didn’t abandon her. He keeps trying to call her and she knows it. Oh what I would have given for that phone call.

Her problem was that Stolas had constantly prioritized others over her. Such as him prioritizing his feelings for Blitz over her to the point that he was going to throw his life away at the trial without thinking about how he promised Octavia that he wouldn't leave her. At this point, she was done. She could not nor would not allow herself to be hurt or neglected again. She was done with him trying to excuse his thoughtless actions. Stolas claimed that he had no choice, but it was his choice to prioritize his fixation with Blitz and his choice to allow it to continue to this point.

I'm really glad that they clearly showed Stella and Andre aren't even really trying to "manipulate" Via into feeling like her dad threw away their relationship for Blitzo and that she came to the thought all on her own, because it leaves no easy or simple "reveal the lie" solution to Stolas and Via's emotional divide, and so Stolas is actually going to need to prove to Via that he doesn't just value his own happiness over their relationship.

You feel bad for Stolas? The victim of Stella's abuse, sure, but he still neglected his teenage daughter in favor of the man he cheated on his wife with. He was willing to trade everything for Blitzo, but what for Octavia? Even if her perception of his actions are warped, he was literally about to leave her alone with Stella in Mastermind (He thought he was going to die) He didn't just fuck up earlier in Season 1 & 2, but showed blatant inconsideration for his emotionally distraught daughter more recently too, in far of his fantasies. Ultimately, I hope Stolas comes to terms with his mistakes instead of them being instantly forgiven like they were with Stolas's poor treatment of Blitzo since the beginning.

As someone who came from a home with constant cheating, it leaves an impact on the child, even if they never meet the other partner. There’s the constant feeling of “Did they think how this will affect my home life if they’re discovered?” and “Did they think about me before they did it, or did they see me as not important before breaking the family?” I know the situation is somewhat different with it being an arranged marriage, and Stolas clearly needing some kind of escape to begin working towards a way out of Stella’s control, but that doesn’t change the hurt and feeling of displacement it would give Octavia, or any other child in a similar situation. Your parents are part of your identity, good or bad, and infidelity can affect the child’s identity just as much the spouse who had the affair-the only difference is the parent made the decision that would become part of their lives.

Going through this when I was 14 was a hard blow for me, because a few days before I had considered spending more time with him because I felt that my relationship with my dad was no longer as close as before, until one day I saw my mom crying and him standing at the door, I didn't understand anything until I realized that my mom was always right in suspecting him since he was cheating on her, that day I no longer knew what happened but my brother got me out of that situation, days later I had hope that he would return, as of today it has been 2 years, I am already 17, and it still hurts, but in the end "I will grow up without him and the only thing he will know will be my name"

I'm sorry you are going through this. My ex girlfriend had this situation, and I think it made her resentful towards other men (she dumped a lot of guys after me). It is something you have to work through yourself. My father didn't cheat on my mother, but he was still absent all my life. Didn't teach me anything personally, I was only able to observe what he does. I forgave him. Because he had to be a father once to his brother and sisters (his dad left them, mother died shortly after giving birth), he didn't have any strenght left to have his own family and became alcoholic. Don't know about your father's situation, but I hope you will figure this out.

I think Via is aware what Stolas went through, and blames herself. I do 100% get Via's POV but at the same it's heart-breaking because Stolas likely felt like he had to save Blitzo even with the risks that were there. Like, Blitzo was breaking hell's biggest law with Stolas' help and it was only right for him to come save his ass after allowing it to happen to fill his own desires but at the same time I feel like Via will hopefully over time realise that just because he was married to her mother doesn't mean it was a welcomed marriage. It's also just sad because when you think about it Owls will imprint on their first love, meaning Stolas fell in love with Blitzo and could never not love him, no matter how hard he'd try. Honestly just hope that Via realises just how much her dad really does care about her. Doesn't help her mother has forced zero contact between them even though there's no rules against Stolas having contact with Via.

I do wonder though what Via would actually like Stolas to do? Stay and keep suffering? Is she blind to how her mother is? I know she's mad at him for choosing Blitz over her in the moment but like, overall, really, does she just want him to stay with Stella? If they divorced before all the drama, he would probably lose her anyway (can't imagine Stella would let him win any custody battles lol).
