It’s interesting in most of the videos I’ve watch building boards they use the poly glue. The glue routinely finishes at the bottom in all the tests. Titebond 3 or that type always finish first. I used the poly on a gate build and it failed within the first 6 months. I redid it with titebond3 and years later it’s still rock solid. This is without a finish covering it. I’m not judging you just making an observation. Beautiful craftsmanship

you also need to consider the open and the closed time. it is not a quick glue up.

Hey Chad, are you still in Cocoa Beach? I have not seen you in the line up at the CB Pier in at least three years now. I miss seeing you surf with your wood longboard. You probably don't remember me; but I borrowed your board once, to try it out; and you rode my fish shortboard.

WOW greatstuff! ive made 40 foam boards never touched wood so I have to make one before I die but I live in UK and locating the right wood and materials is not easy around here but dam this is real inspiration thankyou you did an amazing job. I was thinking you could try glueing on poly foam on the rails a long band then the rails would be easier to shape but I guess its not a full wooden board then.in the UK matrials are well overpriced here
@briantrend18126 жыл бұрын
for more bouyancy you could use construction foam spray in to the cavities

Brian Trend that would reduce buoyancy compared to having the chamber full of air

Miguel.Angel Viajes if you don't get plans then just use this video as a tutorial . 1. copy a friends foam long board or mini Malibu by drawing around the outline shape with a pen and then cut out the cardboard template just the one side of the center stringer. 2. then turn the friends foam board on its side and draw around the top and bottom of his board to form the central wooden stringer rocker shape . 3. form the ribbing to the template shape equally along the length of the rocker stringer . 4. make the top and bottom decks flat then glue to stringer. 5. glue wood batten planks to ends to shape rails . /or glue polyurethane surfboard foam bands along the sides which is easy to shape than wood for the rails. 6. plane off to finish shaping then sand and glass, sand again and buff to high finish.

@TimelessSurfCompany6 жыл бұрын
You don't have to fill it with anything as long as you vent it. You can fill it with foam before gluing on the top deck. This dies add weight but lessens the need for venting.

Great build. I cringed when you used that polyester resin. That board isn't worthy of that resin. But I can see how you used it for the darker color. Your neighbors must love you with polyester resin smell. Ha.
