John is an amazing individual. Not only is he a clam expert but he provides the best customer service I have ever encountered in this industry. We had a shipping hiccup because of weather and despite the UPS delay, John worked hard every step to get this resolved as quickly as possible. The clams not only still arrived in great shape, but they are the most amazing specimens he sent. I can not say enough great things about clammania with a higher endorsement. I will not buy clams from anyone else.

I love how he mentioned Nori at 16:40 that it is a natural source of trace elements. Rather than using all these trace additives i just now use Nori everyday for my tangs. And my reef looks better!

James Fatheree's tridacnid clam book is by far the best resource and dispels a huge number of myths in the hobby. It's the price of a frag, but you'll likely save the life of your animals. I've been in the hobby for 25+ years but I hadn't kept a clam successfully (e.g. over a year, even under metal halides) until after reading this book.

Fantastic video. I have been keeping clams for many years, I have always supplemented with natural sunlight and have never directly fed them and they have always thrived in my tanks. It’s extremely encouraging to see this video with actual accurate information.

Just bought a Tridacna Crocea from Reef Stock Denver. It was great meeting John Bui and being able to purchase one of his aquaculture Crocea clams. Might get another tomorrow, this one attached its foot/tongue/bissal threads within a few hours. I hope to see more people keeping clams. Thanks for the knowledge, John! (and the clam)

Could you do a video on clam disease and treatment? I’ve been reading about pinched mantle. I had a maxi for several months. I added a second one same size about 4inch. The second clam I added is all retracted looks dead, but shell shuts tightly when I pick it up.

@unclecharlie9022 I figured that might happen. Mostly out of curiosity to see them slowly grow out. I’m afraid of having them slowly rot under the substrate and messing things up with an ammonia spike. Not sure how hardy they are.

This 52 weeks of reefing is rubbish compared to the last
@TrevorHiller Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I feel like this is what happens as you proceed in the hobby as well as other KZbin reefing channels. The “low hanging fruit” of content has been published already. So it takes increasing effort to bring new exciting content. Perhaps stop comparing to season 1 and just enjoy it or leave it? Otherwise you’re sure to be disappointed.
@scottshipley570 Жыл бұрын
@@TrevorHiller it’s literally a pod cast being parked off as one of the weeks, this happened last time they split one week into 4 parts of a pod cast and people complained so they released an actual one part,
@TrevorHiller Жыл бұрын
Personally I gained more knowledge from this than a tour of a tricked out reef tank with every piece of equipment in the hobby, but everyone has their own expectations and perceptions. I don’t think season two has the same excitement because our perspectives have changed-ie. more experience. Unfortunately revolutionary breakthroughs don’t happen every week in this hobby so I think we may need to temper our expectations. Calling this series BRS Season 2 was probably a mistake in hindsight. If this video was published on its own, I doubt it would have the same criticism.

Hope to keep in a Red Sea >50 gal w/ Reefled 50 or 90. Possible? #clammania
