Dear BRS. Please do an experiment with powerheads in nano tanks (20G and less) and all different types of coral to see how different coral are effected in such a small environment. I feel like most beginners start small and have no idea how to handle water flow and blast coral to death or just use a return pump and end up with filthy tanks and unhappy coral. Just a thought.

I have a 5 gallon and only have a return pump. Detritus is settling on my sand bed and I just got a powerhead to handle more flow. I think that this video helped my suspicions a bit as to placement.

In general, multiple sources are better than one or two strong pumps for sure. On my 180g I have 2x MP60 sides toward the front 2/3rds the way down and 4x MP40s top/bottom towards the rear on the sides. Running so many pumps but at lower rates moves the water much better.

I’m a little confused he says with a single pump put on the side furthest from your return furthest from your filtration. Well what if you only have one return and one overflow opposite from each other for an aio tank. I feel like it doesn’t matter with an mp10 on a 15 gallon aio
