First of.. HURRAY! I will be signing up from day one. Second, I have been reefing for about 20 years and consume about 1h of content per day on average (books, foruns, youtube, podcasts). My mindset is always a problem solver with acute curiosity on how things work. Regarding the tank toors, what I would really like to see is a focus on what makes those gorgeous tanks be successful, and not so much the description of every single coral that is inside. What I want to know is what equipment, what method, which additives, what maintenance, the process that led to the amazing tank that it is today, what went wrong and how it was fixed…. That to me is what makes it really educational. And by the way, BRING RANDY ALONG FOR THE RIDE!

I was so excited to subscribe -- im a little disappointed that it's all by monthly fee. This seems self limiting. If you did this spin out back at the peak of brs tv investigates, maybe it would be an easier sell. Honestly it would take some pretty incredible content for me to consider a monthly subscription, and i'd need to see some of that before signing up. This pivot has me thinking back to the episode of the brs podcast when they announced the private equity investment in BRS and Ryan said that if all of a sudden you see him take a major step back, you know things have gone horribly wrong at BRS. Hopefully you will reconsider the paid model. I do love that randy/ryan era of investigates, when you guys really kicked the tires on the science of reefing. Would love for that to come back. It was the peak.

I hope to see a repeat study on pH that proves your first BRS study was correct in that it’s worth chasing 8.2-8.3 for growth. The reason being because I was so surprised by Polo Reef and his expert panel going off on BRS about how your pH experiment was not entirely accurate and the conclusion was wrong/damaging to the community.
@raisethereefАй бұрын
There was nothing “expert” about that panel. The one scientist was Craig and he had to keep correcting the others
@samc2649Ай бұрын
@ expert or similar description was definitely a self proclaimed title by the group. I do wish they would let Craig speak more
@SeriousReefsАй бұрын
That's a great question. In my opinion, the essence of peer review lies in peers replicating results and sharing their findings. Opinions and theories are easy to come by, but actual data is a rare and valuable resource in our hobby. It's worth noting that the outcome of that experiment aligns with how the vast majority of marine biologists understand the effects of pH on ocean reefs. Given the finite resources available, I believe it’s more impactful to focus on uncovering new insights rather than duplicating previous efforts, especially when the likelihood of obtaining similar results is high

So as an example, Does that mean no more pushing neptune over other products? Will it mean you'll review and test hydros?
@SeriousReefs29 күн бұрын
@@TheWidowMaker.To be frank, I don't think the reefing world needs more product reviewers. My interest is in "why" we do it. Once we know "why" we do it the tools we do it with will become self evident. Right now so much of what we think we know is really just a collage of plausible theory overwhelmed by competing opinions. A single comment I read this summer was the primary inspiration for Serious Reefs. "I've researched saltwater tanks off and on for a decade. I always get overwhelmed with the varying bits of information scattered all over the internet. I end up getting confused and overwhelmed, and then I walk away. Inevitably I come back for more research two years later. Rinse and repeat. Overwhelmed. Walk away." There is a solution that doesn't just solve this problem but solves all problems. Let's find it together.

Our mission is simple: "There is no other single place where $10 could have a bigger impact on your tank." This $10 could be the difference that saves many reefers 100x that amount by guiding them to the right solutions the first time-protecting both their investments and the animals they care for. Please be skeptical-it’s the driving force behind progress and the foundation of meaningful discoveries.
@stefk486229 күн бұрын
@ what about reef beef? Unbiased, not driven for $$$$ ? Pure and simple, connect with many hobbiest, scientists, chemists. All for the low price of $8/m. AI is around the corner and is able to address many different questions reefers may have. You are still associated to BRS/Aperture. How are you going to handle an unbiased opinion on the market? Many people have this question. IMO, start off offering amazing content first, then attempt to offer a subscription based service. There are so many other KZbin videos aimed for reefers.
