The Tripletail episodes are always entertaining, I watch those and the Cobia episodes over and over again. What about a Tripletail and/or Cobia episode using the buggy whip? Caught everything else on the fly!!

I will put the buggy whip in the boat next time.

Austin Sneed Addictive Fishing Do you fish on Tybee? I am going shark fishing off the beach there this weekend and i was wondering if y'all had any suggestions to what I should use. I have 2 or 3 Penn surf fishing combos that both have 20 lb fluorocarbon mainline. I got some 30 lb wire leader by eagle claw and also some size 8 eagle claw saltwater circle hooks. I am going to put an egg weight with two beads and use whiting or bluefish chunks for bait. Is there anything i should do differently or any suggestions as to how i should fish? Like Capt Wiggins said in the video, I just want to catch something that pulls hard it can be shark, stingray, redfish and black drum, anything really that gets big. I'm guessing whatever I catch will be 4 feet and 50 lb. max no matter how I fight it but please try to help me out. Thanks!

I fish a TON on Tybee. Your rig sounds about right. I use a 1 or 2 oz egg sinker on a Carolina rig with a size 3 circle hook on about a foot to eighteen inches of 30 lb wire. You don't need that big of a hook for what you'll be catching out there. Mostly you'll run into bonnet head--lots of em, Sharpnose, black tip and bull, though I did catch a tiger once. On bait, I usually wrangle up some blue crabs and/or some menhaden. I especially like blue crabs though because a big red or black drum is just as likely to take it as a shark. Good luck out there, the fishing is outstanding and the scenery is nice as well.

Ooh. I just read your post more thoroughly. Shark fishing is illegal from the beach. If you cross Tybee Creek and fish off of either the sand bar or Little Tybee Island, you are alright though. That being said, no one can arrest you because a shark just happened to end up on the other end of your line. Regardless of the aforementioned, stick near the fishing pier by Alley 3 (or Alley Street as it's called on Google Maps) and you should have a better day.

Austin Sneed K thanks. I know about that law they made, I'll just say I'm fishing for whatever bites if anyone asks, and i don't plan on keeping any sharks that i catch so I think as long as I don't put them in a cooler I havent broken the law but I'm not sure. Thanks though I had forgotten about that!

Late response, I know, but remember to use a couple foot of steel wire, either crimped or haywire twisted. Big 12/0+ circle hooks and 3 yards of thick mono attached to the leader aswell.
Poor Blaine was huffin and puffin lol. I don't think he's made for endurance.

Blaire I hate you, I hate your good looks with that blonde hair, I hate your laugh, I hate how you hook fish so quick and so easy from sailfish to trippletails to small redfish to cobia to 300 pound (what was that a bull shark?) I hate everything about you because I want that life LOL! BTW, just in case there is some confusion at the sarcasm, the word "hate" is not used in it's conventional definition, more of a term of endearment! Great stuff. Can you explain again what kind of shark that hammerhead-looking one is? And maybe also a bit of information as to it's protected and fishing status? Thanks, man. As usual, nothing but the best. OH PS, couple guys who talk the big talk (and deservingly so) they have a great reputation in the internet fishing community had a video posting where they chartered out a few fellas and one guy hooked about a 45 pound yellowfin tuna and it took them FOREVER to get it on the boat and they even gaffed it!!!! I couldn't believe how much time they spent backing up, circling, worried about the leader coming too close to the boat (that one I couldn't figure out it's a fishing charter boat for crying out loud and just stick your damn hand out to keep it away!!!) and so I politely questioned why it was such a huge ordeal (and mind you, painfully long time to watch them bring that fish on the deck from the second it surfaced maybe 35 to 45 minutes) and then directed them to a few of the MANY yellowfins vids shows you've done where the fish comes up, you get her lined up properly maybe 2 or 3 tries and either in the net and up or gaffed and done deal! Move on to the next one. Waiting for his reply but I was shocked at what all the fuss was about. We have Bluefin up here in the north shore of MA and supposedly this is the season they'll start coming through and there's gonna be a lot of guys out there and I'm looking for my first! I'll keep you posted.

Wow, Bonnethead shark that's incredible and I must admit that I've never heard of it and would've said the same thing many of the people you quoted that it's a baby hammerhead. Will have to look it up and find out more. Thanks for the reply.
